Pembroke Canal improvements to begin soon
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26: The Ministry of Public Works today advised that work is due to start on site in the coming weeks on the Pembroke Canal to improve drainage and mitigate flooding in low lying parts of Hamilton.
Working in conjunction with the Department of Conservation Services, work will begin next week to cut back and carefully remove a section of mangroves at the mouth of the canal where it joins Mill’s Creek.
The initial work is expected to take a few days and will be followed up by more extensive construction works over the following 3 months.
The Ministry is working with local residents and businesses in the area to minimise disruption while the work takes place.
