Parents need to police technology
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9: Technology is here to stay. Indeed, technology has already upgraded in many areas since I began writing this column.
Knowledge is power, and technology is a major key or tool used to impart knowledge today.
The challenges regarding the use of technology will continue, and the challenge is to use technology so that it enhances rather than diminishes one’s life.
However, there is a plan afoot and this plan has been in existence since the beginning of time.
John 10:10:
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The primary buffer concerning technology and how it plays a role in the life of the youth of today must be the parent.
If parents truly know what their children are ‘up to’, then they will be at a greater advantage in shaping the lives of their children’s future.
Parents must actively take a role in shaping the daily lives of their children.
Parents who do not interrupt computer time allow technology to parent their children.
Recently, some parents were shocked and devastated at what circulated around on the BlackBerry.
However, many parents have no clue of the types of pictures that are on their children’s Facebook page; they are not even aware of who their new ‘friends’ are.
Once again, the plan of Satan is in full view. “Steal, kill, and destroy”, is Satan’s plan.
The devil has as a primary focus to replace the parent.
Why? Because he is yet about destroying God through destroying the image of God.
God is our Heavenly Father and so the devil will continue to seek revenge on God by destroying the relationship between our Heavenly Father and his children (mankind).
That is part of why so many fathers are ripped away from homes and claim, “I am not the father”.
It’s the plan of the enemy. Many say, “That child is not mine”. It is all a part of the overall plan of Satan to remove fathers.
Once fathers are removed from the home, the plan continues to remove and/or replace the remaining parent.
That is what happens when mothers work two and three jobs trying to make ends meet.
The plan of Satan picks up, because the children are then left to their own devices, and are parented by technology.
Too many children sit mindlessly before the television screen or the computer screen.
Images of pornography and violence are readily available to them.
Many children have no relationship with God or His Son, Jesus Christ, and so there is no buffer to ‘prick’ their conscience.
Nope. They readily begin to take images into their minds, which shape their thinking patterns.
What a challenge for the children of technology. While technology is needful in today’s world, it is more needful that parents still parent. The more you allow immorality and violence to become the norm, the more you will see the evidence on the streets of Bermuda.
Young males have no fear of being violent and killing another.
Young females look for love and end up with children when they are far too young.
These are substitutes for what they are missing. Whenever a person is missing something he or she will find something to fill it. The youth are no different.
I invite parents of young children to begin again. Start a new journey for you and your children.
Do not allow the negatives of technology to be a part of their story.
You and your children can have a great future. It all begins with your next decision.
If you would like to talk about this matter even further, e-mail me at [email protected] or reach out to me on Facebook.
Let’s make good use of modern technology.
