One more to go for Southampton Rangers
Selection quandary for coach Clevie Wade who has a glut of players to choose from
Two-day league. Check.
One-day title. Check.
It's a case of three down, one to go, for Southampton Rangers as they target a clean sweep of domestic honours.
Clevie Wade's men are two wins away from completing 'the quadruple' and according to their coach they are just as hungry now as when the season began.
To make matters worse for relegated Bailey's Bay, their semi-final opponents on Sunday, Wade has a full-strength fully fit squad to choose from.
And they have a score to settle after losing to the east end club on a bowl-off in the final of last year's competition.
"The players didn't take that too good, I can tell you," said Wade.
"We will be coming out all guns blazing. I've got one of my best squads ever to pick from on Sunday.
"I'm just thinking how I'm going to put the team together. I've got all my internationals back and I've got all my regulars fit."
"We definitely want to win this. The BCB put out four trophies at the beginning of the season. We've got three of them and we want the clean sweep."
He said he would be picking the five internationals - Janeiro Tucker, Lionel Cann, Dwayne Leverock, Kwame Tucker and Malachi Jones - plus six others.
But despite that he said he had to give dues to the 'die-hards' who had been there week in, week out, through the season.
"People always say we've got a star-studded squad but it's not the stars that have won it for us.
"The national team players didn't play in the two-day league, they only played five or six games in the 50-over league, out of 14.
"People like Keith Wainwright, Dion Stovell, Ryan Belboda, Stevie Lightbourne, Olin Jones, Curtis Jackson - the die hards have carried us through.
"Everybody's lovely, we are all for each other. The work, the dedication, the commitment and the respect that they have given me has made my job so much easier"
He said the national team players had even come to watch the conclusion of the quarter-final match last Sunday after getting off the plane from Toronto, where they had just won the Americas' Cup."[[In-content Ad]]
