O'Brien should lead St. David's wicket charge
The semi-finals take place on Saturday with the final in St David's on Sunday. There's also some first -division action.
BELCO CUP
St David's v Western Stars
On Saturday at 11am
At Somerset
After a series of poor results in their absence Stars will be breathing a huge sigh of relief to have their national team stars back in the fold.
Saleem Mukuddem was on fire with the ball for Bermuda in England and he should shake up the St. David's batsmen if he continues that form.
Hasan Durham is also bowling well and though Treadwell Gibbons had mixed fortunes in England he's still a class act at this level and will relish the chance to get after the St David's bowling.
But for every silver lining there is a cloud and St. David's, who coped admirably without their national team players, will also welcome back a host of stars.
The Pitcher brothers have been in good nick with bat and ball but the inclusion of Delyone Borden and OJ Pitcher should strengthen them immensely.
Paceman George O'Brien should also return, something Western Stars bats won't be relishing. The young bowler is really turning into something special and should be a wicket threat here.
It should be an exciting game with a place in Sunday's final at stake.
Southampton Rangers v
Bailey's Bay
On Saturday at 11am
At St. David's
Rangers' formidable squad just keeps on rolling with youngster Malachi Jones and his father Olin leading the charge with bat and ball on the home front.
The pair have emerged as the mainstays of the Rangers' team in the absence of a host of national team stars.
Keith Wainwright has also weighed in with valuable runs while Dion Stovell is in superb nick with the bat.
Add Bermuda stand-in skipper Janeiro Tucker, the island's premier spin bowler Dwayne 'Sluggo' Leverock and its top all-rounder Lionel 'Tit' Cann into the mix and Bay must be quaking in their boots.
They won't have Ryan Steede for the rest of the summer after he signed for English club Atherstone but Irving Romaine will return to bolster the batting order,
Rangers look too strong for just about everybody at the moment, though, and will be hot favourites not only to win this game but to reclaim the Belco Cup as well.
First Division
There are two First Division matches scheduled for the weekend, though some of the teams were looking to postpone their matches because of the Belco Cup.
We've printed the fixture schedule but information on postponements was not available at press time and it is recommended that fans call the clubs to check if the matches are on.
