Noah was chosen because he had 'the mind of God'
God by surprise. God was not surprised when the world became evil in the days of Noah. No, not at all! God knew about that time of evil, when mankind would do all that they wanted to do, forget God, and care less about the law of God.
Hence, God prepared himself a man who would hear His voice in spite of the many voices of that day. God created Noah, who would be obedient to the voice of God and do what God desired.
Yes, in that day of mindless activity and a people who minded to do their own thing, God fashioned a man who would have His mindset.
Isn't this a wonderful reality of God's world? Even when the world turns upside down, God will still cause someone to rise above the lowered standards of the day and speak right. Simply put, Noah had the mind of God.
The mind of God is beyond us. We can only hope for an inkling of understanding about the ways of God, as we study His manuscript - The Bible. As we take a final peek into the house of Noah, let us appreciate the following:
n God knows the importance of keeping a family together.
n God will find you a new home before He asks you to leave your place of familiarity.
n God takes care of those who listen to His voice and are obedient to His words.
n God blesses the righteous and the family of the righteous.
n God believes in the union of male and female, and He continues this pattern of sustaining life, in the new world order.
n God will protect a home that is led by a godly man.
n God will keep those of His household away from the dangers on the outside.
n God will supply all of the needs of your house, because He is the ultimate Father.
n God's preservation of your family is contingent on only one thing - your obedience to His mandates.
Bermuda, I am more than sure that if we were to take a look at God's true pattern of family life, it would cause each of us to examine our own families and try to model our homes after the home of his obedient servant, Noah.
Here in Bermuda, we are experiencing the floodwaters of economic difficulties, education woes, social unrest, and a general lack of integrity in many of the people we should be able to trust.
Yet, because I know that God does not change, I am assured that even during this time of flooding, God has people who are attuned to His voice, and as we listen to the voice of God, we will know what to do, where to go, and what to say in order to bring others into "The Ark of Safety."
In order for the homes in Bermuda to be blessed and to have a godly future, all homes must acknowledge that God is God, and that beside Him there is no other. This is what will cause us to survive the floods that have been designed to destroy mankind.
Know that God loves us with an everlasting love and therefore, He will sustain us by His love. God will bless our households as we hold onto His unchanging hand during these ever-changing times. Respice finem.
