WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3: The Moonlight Movies Series makes its return this Saturday and will open with two extra hours of family entertainment.
The extended entertainment takes place at Shelly Bay Field from 6pm to after 8pm and the film, Soul Surfer, begins at 9pm.
For the first time the Department of Youth, Sports and Recreation is on board as a main sponsor and has incorporated the annual Camparama into the event. It will showcase singing and dancing performances by the students who have been at summer camp.
AJ The Little Gombey will be there along with The Graffiti Dancers who will perform a high-energy hip-hop style routine. There will be a Kiddy Land section with games and rides and slides for the little ones as well as a Gombey performance. Power Girl , DJ Patrina O’Connor-Paynter will host the event.
Eugene Dean, producer for The Emperial Group which organizes the event, said: “This year we have put a concerted effort into making the programme more community based. This year is different as we have a lot more support from sponsors.”
Confirmed future events are to take place on August 12 and 13 at Horseshoe Bay and August 26 at Number One Car Park on Front Street. All events after Saturdays extended event begin at 7pm with the first film starting at 9pm and the second film starting at 11pm.
A plan is also being hatched to hold a Moonlight Movies event on Labour Day in conjunction with the City of Hamilton and the Department of Tourism for a weekend series incorporating Bermuda Nights and Summer Sundays.
