Padraig Harrington won a return trip to Bermuda to compete in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf by taking the British Open title for the second year in a row.

But Phil Mickelson also took a step closer to joining Harrington and South African Trevor Immelman, who won the Masters, at the Bermuda event.

Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open but will be unable to compete at the Grand Slam because of a season ending injury, that means whoever has the most points in the Majors Champions Points List will have the opportunity to replace Woods.

That currently is Phil Mickelson with 175.83 points. Mickelson was tied for 19th at the British Open and earned 49 points.

Second on the list is Retief Goosen with 153.5 points with Jim Furyk third at 149.

The last chance to win a spot at the Grand Slam is the PGA on August 10. Since the most points a golfer can get is 100 points for a second place finish, the only other golfers who could overtake Mickelson are: Jim Furyk (149), Justin Leonard (141.5), Mike Weir (138), Ernie Els (121.94), Todd Hamilton (108.5), Geoff Oglivy (97.5) and Greg Norman (88.5).[[In-content Ad]]
