Madeiros turns back the clock
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29: JJ Madeiros surprised the field at the Jack Daniel’s tour event held at Belmont Hills Golf Club on Monday.
Madeiros shot 10 below his age and carded a superb 70 to tie with Dwayne Pearman on top of the leaderboard.
He had a steady round with only two bogeys and two birdies.
Pearman overcame an early triple bogey on the par four fifth hole with five birdies and held it together to keep a share of first place. Both Pearman and Madeiros earned $190 for their efforts.
Darreik Douglas shot a 73 to snag third place and $100.
The Fairmont Southampton’s Anthony Mocklow was fourth with a 74, but could have finished higher except the 15th hole saw him record a triple bogey. He won $80.
Brian Morris and Twilton Smith were one stroke back at 75.
Next week is a major and will be played at the Mid Ocean club with $2,250 up for grabs.

Andrew Bissell said: “This tournament fills up fast and people were disappointed last year because they waited too long to enter. Also, if you enter early and you also save yourself $50.”
