Looking for a greater depth of entertainment

South shore venue hopes theme nights and free transport will tempt revellers from city

Elbow Beach’s ‘Deep’ nightclub is to launch its summer season tomorrow with the first in a series of fortnightly theme nights that will include free transportation to and from Hamilton.

It’s hoped that the ‘Dark Blue’ events, which are being organized by Siren Productions, will help tempt revellers who might otherwise have been put off by the nightclub’s location away from the city, as well as inject some variety into its events schedule.

Each event will be themed around a particular style of music and will include a variety of live entertainment reflecting that theme.

The first event, running from 10pm-3am tomorrow, is themed ‘Housesexy Night’. It will feature a variety of live entertainment including a singer, a violinist, a dancer, a DJ and bongo drums, with House music as the theme.

Later themed nights include: ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, on June 15, themed around Salsa with a live band and dancer; Souled Out RnB Night’, on June 29, with a live band and slam poetry artists; ‘Buddha Bar’, on July 13, with belly dancers and water pipes; ‘Studio 54 Disco Night’, on July 27, with live dancer; Take 5 Jazz Night’, on August 10, with live performers; and ‘Koyote Ugly Night’, on August 24, in which female partygoers are encouraged to dress cow-girl style with boots and Stetsons for the chance to win a prize.

Danielle Paynter and Mia Page Chambray, who created Siren Productions, said: “Ennio [The Lido Dining and Entertainment Complex Manager] wanted to put on some special events during the summer and asked us to see if we had any ideas, so we tried to come up with something that would attract especially Bermudians, tourists and people who like to dance.

“We expect the crowd to depend a bit on the theme — for instance, the entrance fee for the Jazz Night will be more than other nights because we are organizing a live band, so it will be cost more like $50 than $25 — and for that you can expect fantastic music, but we think it will generally appeal to a different crowd than the RnB Night.”

They added that the leisure complex would provide a special menu of table snacks for each of the themed nights.

The free shuttle service — which is only for the Dark Blue events — comprises three vehicles that will go to and from Elbow Beach to Front Street, Hamilton, between 9.30pm-2am. They will stop at Pier 6. Entrance for the events is currently set at $25.

The nightclub is already running a Poker Night on Wednesdays and the increasingly popular ‘Industry Night’ on Sunday evening.

It’s also planning to introduce poker classes on Monday with a Dating Night on Tuesdays — details are still to be finalised.

Dresscode in general for special events is smart/casual.[[In-content Ad]]
