Bermuda win by eight wickets

Bermuda have won an unbelievable run chase, Hemp's third unbeaten century of the tournament took them to an incredible 8-wicket win chasing 353 for victory.

Hemp finished not out on 170. Stephen OUterbridge made 107 and a quickfire 32 from Lionel Cann who scored the winning runs with a big six finished the job.

48.3 overs: Bermuda 347 for 2. Target: 353

Hemp 170, Cann 26

Hemp takes three through the leg side. Two to win.

Cann brings up the eight wicket victory with a huge six.

48 overs: Bermuda 347 for 2. Target: 353

Hemp 166, Cann 26

Hemp cracks a pull for six over square leg. Bermuda are going to do this. He picks out a fielder with a similar shot and gets a single.

Would this be a record run chase for Bermuda - it must be close.

Cann takes two with a push to leg. Easy pickings with all the fielders pinned on the boundary.

A wide takes Bermuda within 8 runs of victory. They just need to push and run now.

Cann does just that taking a single with a delicate late cut. Hemp takes an easy single from the last ball.

Six to win from two overs.

47 overs: Bermuda 335 for 2. Target: 353

Hemp 158, Cann 22

One for Hemp who digs out a full pitch delivery with a late cut.

Cann mis-times a clubbed shot over mid-on and is lucky not to be caught.

He finds his range with the same shot next ball - right out the middle for six. Bermuda are almost there. What an amazing run chase.

A wide gifts Bermuda one more, then Cann takes a single down the ground.

Hemp strokes one to mid-off. The rate is one a ball now. 18 to win from 18 deliveries.

46 overs: Bermuda 323 for 2. Target: 353

Hemp 157, Cann 14

Singles from the first two balls. This is nail-biting stuff.

Hemp drives for two more then turns it round the corner for another double.

He takes one with a back-foot drive through mid-on.

30 to win from 24 balls.

45 overs: Bermuda 316 for 2. Target: 353

Hemp 151, Cann 13

Cann swats two through the off-side then takes a single. Hemp straight drives for one.

Cann powers down the ground for two then he really gets hold of the next one, dispatching it through leg for four.

Wicket!: Bermuda 306 for 2 from 44 overs. Target: 353

Outerbridge top edges a pull and he is caught for 107.

Fantastic innings from the Bailey's Bay man. He took just 99 balls for his 108, including eight 4s and three sixes.

Lionel Cann strides to the wicket to try and finish the job. But it's Hemp on strike and he punches a single to bring up his 150.

Cann flicks off his pads for four then swings and misses, backing away from the stumps.

43 overs: Bermuda 299 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 147, Outerbridge 107

Are we dreaming? Is this the same Bermuda that capitulated agianst UAE, Afghanistan and Holland?

Outerbridge is in full flow now charging down the wicket to crash another boundary.

42 overs: Bermuda 290 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 146, Outerbridge 101

This match is in the balance.

63 needed from eight overs as a wide brings up the 200 partnership from 180 deliveries. Outerbridge's century came from 92 balls.

Asadu throws down a couple of dangerous yorkers and Bermuda still have an enormous challenge. This could go right down to the wire. Hemp breaks the tension dispatching a full toss for four. Asadu gifts him another which he puts out the ground for a huge six. He's closing in on 150.

OUter

41 overs: Bermuda 276 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 134, Outerbridge 100

It's there. Outerbridge punches the air as he runs through for his first international limited overs century.

Simply superb.

40 overs: Bermuda 272 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 132, Outerbridge 98

Outerbridge blazes behind square for four and he is within a shot of his hundred. He flashes through the covers, but picks up only a single. He's on to 98 not out as Hemp slaps the last ball over the in-field for four. 81 required from the last 10.

39 overs: Bermuda 263 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 128, Outerbridge 93

Just a handful of singles from the over. the required run rate is 8.2 for the last 11 overs.

38 overs: Bermuda 259 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 125, Outerbridge 91

A run-a-ball from the first four deliveries, then a wallop in front of square from Outerbridge and he moves into the nervous 90s again,,,,

37 overs: Bermuda 250 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 122, Outerbridge 85

Hemp is dropped on the boundary. Have Uganda just dropped the match?

It spills through the fielders fingers and over the long-off boundary for six.

Good running brings up the 250. 250 in the 37th over! This is unheard of.

36 overs: Bermuda 241 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 115, Outerbridge 84

Hemp thumps four more back past the bowlers head then scampers through for a single.

Outerbridge takes an easy one then Hemp scrambles another single. Phenomenal stuff from these two, they have reach their second consecutive 150 partnership.

35 overs: Bermuda 231 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 109, Outerbridge 81

they're taking a run a ball but more is needed now. the required rate is over 8 an over.

Fantastic job thus far from these two but it's time to push on now if Bermuda are to achieve what would be an amazing victory.

Outerbridge senses this and comes down the wicket to crack four over mid-on.

34 overs: Bermuda 222 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 106, Outerbridge 75

It was a bit unfair to suggest this has been an almost single handed effort from Hemp. His efforts have been outstanding but young OUterbridge has been right there with him.

He's eyeing his first limited overs century today. Both men are in the top ten run scorers in the tournament. Hemp is at the top. If only others could have contributed more it might have been a different story.

33 overs: Bermuda 217 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 103, Outerbridge 73

Outerbridge crashes a scorching cover drive into the boundary boards.

Hemp survives a run-out shout as they scramble through for a quick single.

32 overs: Bermuda 207 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 101, Outerbridge 68

hemp brings up his third century in four games with an easy single.

What a tournament he has had. He has almost single handedly tried to lift Bermuda out of the doldrums.

His hundred today came from 94 balls.

31 overs: Bermuda 204 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 98, Outerbridge 67

200 ups as Bermuda pick off the singles from that over.

Hemp is on to 98 not out.

30 overs: Bermuda 199 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 95, Outerbridge 65

Six from Outerbridge - just clearing the ropes over long-on. He sprints through for a risky two but he's safe.

He wants to take another risky single but hemp sensibly sends him back.

154 to win from the last 20 overs.

29 overs: Bermuda 189 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 94, Outerbridge 56

It's amazing what a good partnership can do to sap the life out of a team.

Uganda - full of energy earlier on - are looking lethargic now. Bermuda are playing well but the required rate is up to 7.7 an over. It is still going to be a challenge.

28 overs: Bermuda 185 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 92, Outerbridge 54

A clip off the legs from Outerbridge brings up his half-century. He got there from 49 balls - his third of the trip.

HIs performances here bode well for the future. Hopefully he can now go on and get the hundred he deserved on Saturday.

27 overs: Bermuda 179 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 91, Outerbridge 49

The hundred partnership comes up from 89 balls.

Superb stuff from these two. Virtually chanceless innings from both men so far.

Bermuda could use another century partnership on top of this from Hemp and Outerbridge though. Still plenty of work to do.

26 overs: Bermuda 174 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 89, Outerbridge 46

Four more singles from that over as Bermuda move towards their target.

25 overs: Bermuda 170 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 87, Outerbridge 44

These two are taking at least a single from virtually every ball. It's just how Kenya batted against us last week and exactly what has been missing from Bermuda's artillery in the middle overs,

24 overs: Bermuda 166 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 85, Outerbridge 42

Superb runing from these two. Why couldn't it have been like this from the start.

Teams like UAE and Afghanistan have better bowling attacks than Uganda, true, but Bermuda's performance in the last couple of games has been much more assured. They're doing the basics right and its been largely down to these two men at the crease right now.

Hemp is into the 80s with a pull over square leg for six. Sensational stuff - he is on course for his third century in four matches.

23 overs: Bermuda 157 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 78, Outerbridge 40

150 is on the board for 140 balls. They're just about on target as Outerbridge picks up four more with a well-timed late cut.

22 overs: Bermuda 146 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 77, Outerbridge 32

Hemp gets away with a mis-timed hook off an awful bouncer by Kenneth Kamyuka. It's in the air, but drops short of the fielder.

21 overs: Bermuda 142 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 74, Outerbridge 31

Outerbridge comes down the wicket to crash a huge six into the wall of the commentary box - that one went beyond row Z. He takes a single and Hemp flicks two off his pads.

These guys are making this look easy

20 overs: Bermuda 133 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 72, Outerbridge 24

These two have proved to be perfect partners - running well between the wickets together, taking the singles and cashing in on the bad balls.

They made 180 together on Saturday. today, it's fifty and counting.

19 overs: Bermuda 127 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 70, Outerbridge 20

A sumptuous cover drive form Hemp followed by a handful of singles.

That's the fifty partnership from 43 balls. Bermuda are in business in this run chase.

18 overs: Bermuda 117 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 63, Outerbridge 18

Outerbridge slaps Nsubuga for six over mid-on, then takes a well run two from a straight drive. He looks to be continuing his excellent form from the last couple of games. a push to mid-on brings one more and Hemp picks up a single from the last ball.

17 overs: Bermuda 107 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 62, Outerbridge 9

Five singles from the over.

16 overs: Bermuda 102 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 60, Outerbridge 6

Hemp sweeps for a huge six over square leg and that's the hundred up. Bermuda are rattling along at a run a ball, but they still need to accelerate.

This is more than fine for now, though...

15 overs: Bermuda 92 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 51, Outerbridge 5

A single brings up the half century for Hemp in 50 balls. He's done it again. This is his fifth half-century in a row. Twice he has gone on to convert them into hundreds. Can he do it again??

14 overs: Bermuda 89 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 49, Outerbridge 4

Outerbridge misses out on a juicy full toss but then gets off the mark with a lovely cut for four off the back foot.

13 overs: Bermuda 82 for 1. Target: 353

Hemp 48, Outerbridge 0

Hemp picks up a fortuitous boundary off the edge.

Outerbridge is on the receiving end of a shoulder barge from the bowler as he tries to call Hemp through for a single.

Wicket! Bermuda 77 for 1. after 12 Target: 353

Crucial period of the game as spin comes into the attack.

Frank Nsubuga, Bermuda's tormenter in chief with the bat, is serving up some flighty off-spin.

And he is immediatley among the wickets trapping Crockwell for 28. Over to Hemp and Outerbridge to once again,

11 overs: Bermuda 75 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp 42, Crockwell 29

Hemp edged for two through the vacant slip area and he's into the 40s.

10 overs: Bermuda 69 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp 38, Crockwell 27

Crockwell blazes four through the off-side with a half-timed drive.

He takes a single through the leg side and then Hemp late cuts for one.

Crockwell takes another boundary from the final ball of the over with a well-timed flick through leg side.

Bermuda are just about up with the run rate after 10 overs. Great start.

9 overs: Bermuda 59 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp 37, Crockwell 18

Hemp slaps a pull-shot in front of square for four to bring up the fifty partnership in 49 balls. He takes two with a push off his pads then calls Crockwell through for another sharply taken single.

8 overs: Bermuda 49 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp powers a thunderous drive down the ground for four then takes another sharp single. Crockwell edges but escapes with a single and Hemp takes an easy one from the final ball of the over, seven from it.

7 overs: Bermuda 41 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp clips three through the leg side, but that's it for the over.

6 overs: Bermuda 38 for 0. Target: 353

A couple of dangerous scrambled singles in that over. Bermuda are pushing as if this is the final overs of a run chase. They have too.

A misfield gifts Crockwell a boundary and Bermuda are on to 38 from the first six.

5 overs: Bermuda 29 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp looks more fluent than he did earlier in the tournament. He ground his way into form with some gutsy, dogged innings and now he's playing at his peak, stroking the ball around with finesse.

He takes four more off his pads and then a quick single to move to 19 from 21 balls. Crockwell weighs in with a straight drive for four. Decent start.

4 overs: Bermuda 20 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp strokes four more through gully. He's into his stride already. Another big innings required from the former pro today.

He's been a beacon of light in a dark and stormy few weeks for Bermuda.

3 overs: Bermuda 15 for 0. Target: 353

Crockwell drives, on the up, over long on for four

These two have to bat positively with so many runs to chase down.. There's not much time to play yourself in.

2 overs: Bermuda 9 for 0. Target: 353

Hemp pushes through the covers for four. He picks up four more off his pads and Bermuda are on their way

It might be worth mentioning that this is the ground where South Africa chased a world record 436 for victory against Australia a few years ago.

1 over: Bermuda 1 for 0. Target: 353

There's no Cann at the top of the order despite the required rate being more than seven an over. That tactic has been totally jettisoned and it is left, now, to Hemp and Crockwell, to try and get this innings off to a flying start.

Just a single from that first over... hmmmm.

Uganda 352 for 7 in 50 overs

Wow. Uganda have butchered the Bermuda attack this morning.

A classy hundred from Bibodi Nehul. and a bullish 98 from 61 deliveries from Frank Nsugba have put Bermuda to the sword this afternoon.

Nsugbu bludgeoned his way to the brink of a hundred with a display of fearless power hitting.

With George O'Brien, Jacobi Robinson, Rodney Trott and Janeiro Tucker all unable to bowl Bermuda lacked pace, bite and fire with the ball.

Uganda have taken advantage and this is a mammoth task now.

More than seven an over required from the word go in the run chase.

49 overs: Uganda 336 for 7

Uganda are slashing their way towards 350. They have nothing to lose. 12 more from that over.

48 overs: Uganda 324 for 7

Tidy over from Outerbridge.

It will be interesting to see how Bermuda respond to this run chase. Will they have to push the under performing Lionel Cann back into the openers spot?

Wicket! Uganda 319 for 7 after 47.1

The innings is imploding noew as Kenneth Kamyuka skies an attempted slog through leg side to the keeper.

He's walking before Crockwell take the catch. Back in the hutch for two.

the damage, though, has already been done.

Wicket! Uganda 319 for 6 after 47

Frank Nsubuga has finally gone for 98. He tried to blast his way over the line and was bowled by Hodsoll.

He got to 98 from 61 balls and has ripped the Bermuda attack apart today in what could well be a match wining innings. Good over that from Hodsoll, though. He kept it steady at a difficult time.

Wicket! Uganda 316 for 5 after 46

Nsugbu carts Tucker for another six over long-on to bring up the fifty parnterhsip in 24 deliveries.

He's absolutely destroyed Bermuda today. He slashes through leg for one more and he's on to 97 fromo 60 balls.

there's no let up as Musoke comes on striker and scorches four through the off-side and then takes two more with a straight drive.

He then hoiks to deep mid-wicket and is caught by Outerbridge- 22 from 12 deliveries.

15 from that over.

45 overs: Uganda 301 for 4

Musoke hits kelly for consecutive fours off the first two balls of the over, then takes a quickly run two with a straight drive.

He picks out the fieldsman on the midwicket boundary and is restricted to a single off the next delivery. That only brings Nsugbu to strike and he ploughs Kelly for a big six over long-on to bring up the 300. Still 5 overs to play. This is devastating stuff from the Africans.

44 overs: Uganda 283 for 4

Leverock's spell comes to an end. 1 for 59 from ten.

He's had a tough job today opening up against an agressive batting attack and bowling through the power play. Nsugbu spoiled his figures a little with a big six in that final over.

There is no escaping this onslaught - even for Bermuda's most economical bowler.

Wicket! Uganda 265 for 4 after 42

Janeiro Tucker strikes again!!! He hasn't bowled today but he's still the top wicket taker, claiming his second run out with a superb direct hit. He makes a diivng stop at extra cover and throws dwon the stumps for the second time in the innings - superb piece of fielding.

It hasn't stemmed the run flow, though.Nine from that over

109 from 117

41 overs: Uganda 256 for 3

Kelly just hasn't been himself this tournament. He's bowling all over the place.

Nsugbu is feeling confident enough to stride down the wicket to him, turning his good length deliveries into full tosses.

40 overs: Uganda 250 for 3

Nehul brings up his century with a delicate late cut for four. The hundred comes from 110 deliveries.

He's batted beautifully too, mixing elegant wristy shots with some powerful driving.

While Nsugbu has bludgeoned his way to fifty at the other end, Nehul has played a genuine batsman's innings. a score of 330 plus is not out of the question as Uganda take thier batting power play with two batsmen well set.

39 overs: Uganda 237 for 3

A wristy flick through leg from Nehul brings up the hundred partnership from 84 balls.

Nehul has moved to 98 not out.

38 overs: Uganda 231 for 3

Nsugbu cracks Tamauri Tucker back over his head for four, then brings up his fifty with a single from the same shot.

His half-century has come up from 37 deliveries and included four sixes.

Uganda are heading for a massive total here,

36 overs: Uganda 217 for 3

All we're hearing up here in the press box is a cacophany of balls bouncing off the boundary boards to cries of 'shot', 'shot', 'shot' as Uganda continue to score with ease.

A neat lofted drive over the in-field for four from Nehul and he's on the brink of a deserved century.

Injuries have robbed Bermuda of the services of Jacobi Robinson, Rodney Trott, George O'Brien and Janeiro Tucker today. Irving Romaine and Stephen Outerbridge have had to bowl a substantial amount of overs and the Ugandans are really enjoying themselves out there.

35 overs: Uganda 207 for 3

Nsugba blasts Outerbridge for another big six. Bermuda's makeshift seamers are just not quick enough on a flat out batting track and Uganda are blitzing towards a massive total.

Yet another David Hemp century may well be required this afternoon.

33 overs: Uganda 189 for 3

Frank Nsugba has come on and taken the attack to Bermuda he has three sixes so far, progressing to 30 in 21 balls.

The 50 partnership comes up in 44 deliveries.

Janeiro obviously is not fit to bowl and Outerbridge and Hodsoll, in particular, are taking some stick.

Bibodi Nehul has moved to 73 from 90 deliveries and a score of 300 plus is on the cards.

Nsugba is batting in a Viv Richards style cloth cap - a sign that the bowling holds few fears for him on a flat track.

Bermuda can take heart from the fact that they reined Oman back from a similarly formidable position on Saturday but at the moment Uganda are in control.

Wicket! Uganda 136 for 3 from 25 overs

Sluggo gets his man. Joel Owenyi isl caught behind for 45 from 49 deliveries.

Uganda are well on top now though. Well set on 136 at the halfway stage and looking towards a big total/

18 overs: Uganda 95 for 2

Uganda are moving along nicely a 95 for 2 at the first drinks break.

Hodsoll is not really quick enough to pose too much of a threat and the Africans are working the singles well off Tamauri Tucker.

The game is well poised right now. Interestingly Janeiro Tucker, who was struggling with a knee injury on Saturday, has yet to bowl. If he is not fit to play a part with the ball then Bermuda's attack looks even more short on numbers.

10 overs: Uganda 55 for 2

The tactic of opening with Leverock has worked. He's bowled five overs for 22, a good return at this stage of the innings for a spinner, considering the field restrictions.

Hodsoll is doing fairly well from the other end too in his first match of the tour.

Bermuda can be fairly pleased with that start. Uganda's big hitting batsmen haven't streaked to a big start. The downside is Sluggo is halfway through his overs.

Wicket! Uganda 44 for 2 after 7 overs

Hodsoll strikes in his first over!

Initially Uganda's confident opener roger Mukasa, batting without a helmet, picks up where he lefts off against Kelly, crashing perfectly timed pulls into the boundary boards.

But he goes for one hit too many and is bowled by a fine yorker from Hodsoll.

Wicket! Uganda 16 for 1 after four overs

A mix-up between the wickets for the Ugandan openers and Janeiro Tucker capitalises, throwing down the stumps with a direct hit.

Kyobe Arthur has gone for ten and Bermuda are on top.

Pre-amble Kyle Hodsoll makes his debut in this tournament as Bermuda attempt to go out on a high.

Rodney Trott is out with a knee injury. Nothing serious apparantly but they've decided not to risk him.

Bermuda open the bowling with Kelly from one end and Leverock from the other. It's an unusual tactic, opening with a spinner, but Leverock is the trump card from a bowling point of view and Bermuda need to stop the opposition from getting the kind of electric starts they have enjoyed in previous matches.[[In-content Ad]]
