Fists of Fury last Saturday night was opened with an eye-popping demonstration by five members of the Wing Lam Kung Fu school. The demonstration group, featuring Chinese martial artists as young as five prepared the crowd for the night of highly entertaining fights.

Marele v Justin

Lucian Marele, a manager at Hog Penny and Bermuda San Shou Association fighter started the night off with a unanimous points decision against Logan Justin of American Top Team in the opening kickboxing rules match. Lucian fought a very well controlled and strategic match against his opponent who also fought for the first time in this type of bout.

Woolridge v Tenpow

Sentwali Woolridge of BSA won in convincing fashion against Kung Fu USA's Asa Tenpow. Sentwali dictated the match from the opening bell and punished his young opponent from Fort Lauderdale with devastating punch-kick combos and takedowns. The referee called the match in the second round after Tenpow appeared to have injured his foot during an exchange with Sentwali.

Husbands v Pitcher

Bermuda Karate Institute's Marcus Husbands won with an entertaining TKO victory over BSA's Khalid Pitcher. The first round was fairly evenly matched until Husbands, a muay thai fighter, unleashed a powerful left roundhouse kick to the head of Pitcher and sent him to the canvas right at the end of the first round. Pitcher managed to make it back to his corner and fight for a bit of the second round until the match was stopped by the referee.

Xavier v Bowen

Osei Xavier of John Wai Kung Fu sealed the first win of the night for the international guests with a unanimous points decision over BSA's Reyel Bowen. Bowen, despite only training for less than two months, conducted himself extremely well in the ring against the much more experienced fighter.

Reyel was able to evade some potentially damaging combos from his opponent with some excellent body movement.

We are very excited to see where Reyel's progess will take him over the next year with more time spent in the gym.

The crowd was treated to an entertaining performance by local music group Bermuda Tri during the intermission featuring individuals displaying various forms of martial arts in their two song set.

Yokota v Thomas

Lee Yokota of Kung Fu USA won in a narrow split points decision over BSA fighter Jashun Thomas. Thomas, a boxer and Tae Kwon Do practioner fought extremely well for his first san shou fight forcing his more experienced opponent to reach into his arsenal of takedowns to pull off the win.

Gibbs v Wilkinson

Dorjhan Gibbs of John Wai Kung Fu won a unanimous points decision over BSA president Garon Wilkinson. Gibbs, clearly the heavier and stronger fighter used his strength and power to counter Wilkinson's flurry of attacking punches and kicks.

The Florida based personal trainer muscled his way to victory and at one point even tackled Wilkinson right out of the ring. Despite Wilkinson not having to absorb a single punch or kick, Gibbs was awarded the victory in a unanimous points decision.

Pineda v Maxwell

Joe Pineda took John Wai Kung Fu's record to a perfect 3 for 3 in a unanimous points decision over Leroy Maxwell.

This bout was very evenly matched in terms of match experience and fighting ability. Pineda appeared to have the upper hand in this tightly contested battle by executing some key takedowns late in the fight that resulted in the points decision victory.

Woolridge v Knebl

Jermal "Goofy" Woolridge treated the crowd to a spectacular finale with a knockout over American Top Team's Adriano Knebl. Woolridge dominated his opponent from the opening bell showing his athleticism with a flurry of combinations.

It was a basic 1-2, or in other words a left jab, straight right that sent his Brazilian roots opponent to the canvas forcing him to be counted out, earning Woolridge the victory by KO.
