Kelly to aid Bermuda's attack v Canada

Young pace bowler Stefan Kelly flew in to join Bermuda's tour of Canada this week as coach Gus Logie recalled his big guns in a bid to lift the team off the bottom of the Intercontinental Cup table.

Seamers George O'Brien, Ryan Steede and spinner Dwayne 'Sluggo' Leverock, rested for the final one-day-international against the Canadians on Tuesday, have all been recalled to the 12-man squad for the four-day match, which starts today.

Youngsters Kyle Hodsoll, McLaren Smith and Dennico Hollis have all been left out while Logie was waiting to take a look at the pitch this morning before deciding whether to leave out one of his spinners, most likely Tamauri Tucker, or one of the seamers, probably Steede.

Meanwhile Canada will be without Abdool Samad, who scored a century in the ODI on Tuesday, but has injured his finger and - Umar Bhatti who has a shoulder injury.

Logie said: "I think the players really feel good about themselves. We are fully fit and young Kelly has looked good in training.

"I've been pleased with the effort so far from the players and I hope it continues. The guys have put in the work this time and prepared themselves so it's not really surprising to see them reaping the rewards."

Bermuda has lost all four of its Intercontinental Cup games so far while Canada has just one win - against the UAE - to its name. Chances of Logie's team making the top-two in the eight team round robin tournament and progressing to the final are virtually non-existent. And Logie admitted that the aim was simply to improve. "I think at this point in time we are looking to go out and do the best we can. We want to win the game and we'll do everything possible to win, but it really matters more to see the guys improving every game."

Bermuda will follow the four-day clash with Canada with another four-day Intercontinental Cup clash with Scotland at the National Sports Centre, starting a week today - the first competitive home game since before qualifying for the World Cup.
