Junior golf medal series gets sponsor

Rock Media has partnered with The Bermuda Junior Golf Association to develop a monthly medal series.

This programme was created with the mission of giving Bermuda’s boys and girls the opportunity to play and learn the game of golf, as well as to influence the children in a positive manner.

The Rock Media Monthly Medal Series begins Saturday, October 16 and will run through June 2011. Membership in the Bermuda Junior Golf Association is open to boys and girls eight to 18 years of age. There are approximately 80 junior golfers participating in this fun Series.

Each month a medal round will be played and top finishers will be awarded trophies and medal points. Juniors will compete in four different divisions: Blue Tee, White Tee, Red Tee and Girls. The top finishers in each division will receive trophies and be awarded points.

At the season’s end, the overall points holders in each division will win a chaperoned trip to play an intra-BJGA tournament at Donald Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The winner of that tournament, the overall Rock Media Monthly Medal Series champion, will win the opportunity to attend a three-day PGA-sanctioned golf school.

This Saturday’s event will take place at Riddells Bay Country Club. After tournament play has ended a Barbecue Awards Ceremony will take place at the Club beginning at 7pm. The next awards ceremony and celebratory dinner will be held at the end of the season in June 2011.
