Jesus is the living bread from Heaven to break and share

FRIDAY, MAY 4: When you are connected to God you can never say that you do not have enough. As a matter of fact, with God you do not need a single thing. God will take your nothing and give you everything you need to fulfill the purpose He has predesigned for your life.

Luke 9:3: And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor script, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

As you look at the little boy’s lunch you see God’s hand of providence. Yes!  You see God as The Provider.

Before God used the little boy to teach a lesson, He gave the initial lesson to His disciples. Then Jesus gave the same disciples a test to see if they really understood the initial lesson.

Lesson One: To The Disciples

Jesus sent the disciples out to preach the Gospel message to the people in the country and in the city.

He told the disciples that they were not to take a single thing with them — no food, clothing, or script.

They were also instructed not to concern themselves with where they were to stay.

In other words, God told them to take nothing and He would provide everything. The disciples obeyed God who met their every need.

God even told the disciples that whoever did not receive them, that they were to shake the dust off their feet and leave that home.

They were to leave the dust behind as a witness that they were there.

It is important that you understand that all will not receive the Gospel message you have to share.

That is not your problem; it is actually their problem.

For at the Judgment seat, they will not be able to cry ignorance, because they had indeed heard the Gospel message, but rejected it.

Lesson Two: The Disciples

Luke 9:16: Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to Heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them 12 baskets.

An interesting point to note here is that Jesus was always testing those who hung around Him to see if they were really getting the message that He was teaching them.

Sad to note, that far too often Jesus’ disciples missed it and failed the final test.

That is what we see in the next lesson. A crowd found out where Jesus was and they went to Him.

It was more than a crowd; it was a multitude. The beautiful thing is that the people took no thought of what they stood in need of, like food, because their immediate need was to receive a healing touch from Jesus.

In essence, the crowd went to Jesus with ‘nothing’. They were empty-handed. 

The disciples saw the multitude, saw that it was getting late, and knew that very soon the people would need to eat. 

That is where the disciples failed the big test. They claimed that the people could not be fed because all they had gotten from a little boy was his lunch of two fish and five little loaves of bread.

The disciples missed it!  For if Jesus had taken their ‘nothing’ and supplied all that they needed, imagine what Jesus could do starting with something!

I believe the disciples were self-focused. They were always speaking about what they could do.

It was never about what He could do. It was and is always about what Jesus can do. And Jesus can do anything but fail.

Jesus took what they had, blessed it, and then broke it. Jesus blessed two fish. Symbolically, Jesus spoke life to a ‘couple’ of fish, and told them that they were to be fruitful and multiply.

It did not matter that they were dead fish, because Jesus is Lord over the living and the dead.

Jesus broke the bread, which represents The Word of God. That is what you must do with The Word of God. Break it!  Give it out! Share it! 

One thing is sure, when you give out the Word of God, it will never run out. There will always be more.

Jesus Himself is the living bread that came from Heaven, and He continues to be broken and served to people even today.

If you do not have life abundantly and if you are not in fellowship with The Bread of Life, then I offer you Jesus.

I offer you the lesson that Jesus will supply all of your needs according to His will.

Allow God to take the nothing places of your life and turn them into something. With God all things are possible.
