Jack Daniels Tour gets new winner
Chris Smith returned to the Jack Daniels Golf Tour after a few weeks layoff to capture his first win of the season.
Smith highlighted his day with and eagle 2 on the par 4 fifth at Belmont Hills holing out from some 50 yards.
Smith continued his good play leading the tournament after the front nine with an even par 35.
His back nine didn’t quite have the same feel with a double bogey-par-bogey finish, but with his closest competitors also stumbling Smith was able to hold on to victory.
Smith won $210.
Second went to Chaka Desilva (75) who is starting to become a player to watch, while third was shared by Brian Morris, Darriek Douglas and Chris Grantier.
DeSilva earned $120 while the three-way tie for third netted $36 each.
Meanwhile Daniel Augustus is currently playing the mini tours in Florida and finished in 5th with a 74, four shots behind the winner.
Augustus hit 15/18 greens but the putter was not up to the challenge having 33 putts.
