Hiscox Bermuda is launching its first ever graduate programme for Bermudian graduates. The two year programme is designed to give graduates immediate hands on experience, gaining on the job training from highly respected professionals including underwriters, risk modellers, actuaries and claims handlers.

The Bermuda programme was designed in line with the UK scheme which has been in existence for many years. It is structured to help you understand how our company operates from a range of different perspectives – and to gain an insight into the way we work and the skills we value – teamwork, innovation and creativity, commercial acumen and customer service. It’s fundamental to your development as a potential future senior manager at Hiscox.

Global experience
You will spend an initial period in our Bermuda office, before moving on to the international graduate programme where you will join other graduates and be based in one of our UK offices, depending on which area of the business you join. 

Via secondments within the UK, Europe and US, you’ll have the chance to develop an in-depth knowledge of Hiscox, work on challenging projects and study towards a professional qualification. 

After completing the programme, you will bring your newfound expertise back to the Bermuda office where you will progress your career.

Who we’re looking for
We are searching for two Bermudians who will be graduating this summer (or who graduated in 2008 or 2009) and are interested in developing a career as an underwriter. 

We are looking for people who are bright, innovative and practical. Like us, you challenge convention and have the determination to see things through to the end. You also have the ability to influence people around you and to shape events. In short, you’ll be able to help drive our business forward.

You can be studying for a degree in any discipline, however the following criteria are essential: grade point average of 2.1 or higher for UK degrees or 3.2 or above (out of 4.0) for US/Canadian degrees, excellent interpersonal skills, comfort and ability to negotiate, and confidence working with numbers.
