Here's how to entertain yourself this New Year
The Small Paintings Show
Until Jan. 2006 — This show features works by Diana Amos, Eric Amos, William Collieson, Dan Dempster, Sheilagh Head, Jonah Jones, Christopher Marson, Molly Smith, Bruce Stuart, Otto Trott and Sharon Wilson.
The show is focused on small paintings. The show is open at The Desmond Fountain Gallery on Front Street.
BDA Society of arts
Until Jan. 2006 — Open at the Bermuda Society of Arts is the Winter 2005 Members Show. In the Edinburgh Gallery is a show by Shirley James. Third Floor, City Hall. 292-3824.
Blooming & Small Wall
Until Jan. 2006 — Open at the BACD is Blooming, a show about riots of colour and burgeoning new life, as well as the Small Wall, with lots of small, quality work to fill lots of large, quality stockings following in the traditions of Windjammer and Heritage House Galleries. The feature artist for the show is Stacey Amos. The BACD is open Monday to Sunday 10am-5pm. 234-2809.
Interim
Until Jan. 7 – Open at the Interim Gallery is Of Her Flesh, a show of recent works by Kendra Ezekiel, Sue Rebello, Caroline Troncossi and Alicia Tyson. The Interim is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am-3pm. The gallery is located on the corner of King St & Reid St in Hamilton. Call 292-3028 for more information.

Extravaganza
Dec. 28-31 — The Masterworks Foundation presents the Arts for All Extravaganza Artist Demonstrations at the Botanical Gardens. The final two days of art demonstrations take place in the West Gallery from 10am-3pm. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Jason Expedition - Mysteries of Earth and Mars
Jan. 3-31 — Join the international team of scientists, teachers and student Argonauts via the Bermuda Biological Station for Research as they examine the similarities and differences between Earth and Mars during live, interactive satellite broadcasts. Walking Club of Bda
Jan. 1 — The Walking Club will swim and walk at John Smith’s Bay on New Year’s Day. Participants should meet at the parking lot at 7am for a 7.10 start. The walks are free and all are welcome. Talented Teens
Auditions
Jan. 16 & 18 — Talented young ladies between the ages of 13-17 are invited to present a two-minute talent presentation and prepare for a brief interview at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts at CedarBridge Academy from 5-7pm. New Year’s Eve Events
Kid Koala
This event features ‘Renowned Turntablilist’ Kid Koala, The Butcha Playing Old Skool 80s, plus local artists Chewstick ‘Neo-Griot Funk’ And Colt 45 ‘Reggae Champion’ at The B.A.A from 9pm till 3am. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door and are available from The Edge, Jackson School Of Performing Arts, and Frameworks Gallery or get them online at www.boxoffice.bm. Black Masquerade Casino Lounge and Venetian Ball
The Fairmont Southampton Mid-Ocean Ampitheatre will be turned into a Masquerade Casino Lounge and Venetian Ball from 7pm to 2am.
There will be Vegas-style gaming tables from 7pm to 10pm, a Vegas Photo Shoot, a Venetian Ball with Venetian masks, showgirls and Sabor Salsa dancers, saxophonists and live percussion performances. DJ Kaos will spin Hip Hop, Reggae and club hits, midnight champagne toast and firework celebration.

The Complex: Tricked out triplex
There will be three levels of entertainment at The Complex:
The Champagne Lounge – a laid back area with a champagne bar featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Tuscany Restaurant.
The Hip Hop Room – Hot contemporary hits for dancers from DJ Chubb and full service bars, and VIP tables with bottle service.
Cloud 9 under the stars – Square One resident DJ Jermaine leads the main room with dance, house, RnB and Reggae. VIP tables and bottle service can be arranged. New Year’s Eve at King’s Square
There will be live local entertainment and the dropping of the onion from 9pm at King’s Square, St. George’s.

The Midnite Inferno
Featuring Jugglin J, Mikey B, Inferno Lounge on King Street presents The Midnite Inferno. “Just a Lil Bit” New Years Eve Bashment
There will be two unpredictable levels of entertainment at the Devonshire Rec Club.
On level one is pure R&B, Hip hop, Soca, slow jams; on level two is pure dancehall vibes featuring Twin Starr, Vybez Alliance, King Starr, China & Bussie, D Nice, Prophecy, King Jyrus. The first 100 ladies get a free glass of champagne and glow party favours.
