English county cricketer David Hemp is poised to make his Bermuda debut after being included in a 15-man touring party to travel to Kenya and South Africa.

The Glamorgan cricketer, who scored more than 1,000 runs for his county this season, was born in Bermuda and was an obvious selection once he had completed the 100 days work necessary to ensure his eligibility.

He'll do that later this month and will be cleared to play on the lengthy trip to Africa which includes a four-day intercontinental cup clash and three one-day internationals against Kenya in Nairobi and Mombasa followed by a four-day Intercontinental Cup clash with Holland and a one-day triangular series with Holland and Canada in South Africa.

Bermuda's number one all rounder Lionel Cann and premier strike bowler George O'Brien are still out injured and will not travel, at least initially to Kenya.

Teenager Malachi Jones will deputise for Cann, who is recovering from treatment on his groin injury, for the first part of the tour. But Cann, who blasted a memorable century in the Americas Cup recently, will fly out to South Africa for the second part of the tour with Jones returning to school in Bermuda.

O'Brien could also play a part in the games against Holland and Canada if he is deemed fit enough to travel. Young off-spinner Rodney Trott comes in as a replacement for Delyone Borden, at school in the States. The four players currently training at the ICC academy in South Africa - Irving Romaine, Stefan Kelly, Kevin Hurdle and Kwame Tucker - will also join up with the squad.

Squad: Clay Smith - Captain (4 day games), Irving Romaine - Captain (ODIs), Janeiro Tucker, Kwame Tucker, Saleem Mukuddem, Dean Minors, David Hemp, Stephen Outerbridge, Rodney Trott, Malachi Jones, Dwayne Leverock, Hasan Durham, Ryan Steede, Kevin Hurdle, Stefan Kelly Standby: Lionel Cann, George O'Brien, Arthur Pitcher Jnr, Azeem Pitcher

Schedule: November 5-8 Intercontinental Cup four day game v Kenya in Nairobi, November 11, 12 and 14 - three ODIs v Kenya in Mombasa, November 21-24 Intercontinental Cup four day game v Holland in South Africa, Nov 26 - Dec 2 Four ODIs v Holland/Canada.[[In-content Ad]]
