Gospel festival to be live streamed in 'heavenly style'

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9: The “Jewel of the Atlantic” will play host to the island’s first three-day gospel music festival, the Dr. Bobby Jones presents the 2011 Bermuda Gospel Festival on August 25 - 27 at the Royal Naval Dockyard’s Victualling Yard. Hosted by gospel legend Dr. Bobby Jones, the gospel extravaganza will not only feature stellar music performances, but will also offer live stream viewing for those who can’t travel to Bermuda.

The 2011 Bermuda Gospel Festival will showcase live performances from some of today’s gospel stars, including Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, Kim Burrell, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Karen Clark Sheard, Kiki Sheard, Vashawn Mitchell, Y’Anna Crawley, Jessica Reedy and Leandria Johnson.

The gospel festival will also feature the “Divine Voices Vocal Competition”, which shines light to the vocal skills of local Bermudians. Recently wrapping up auditions, the 2011 Divine Voices Vocal Competition finalists are Ashley Smith, Claire-Lee DeCouto, Cindy Smith, Francine Brown, Kassandra Caines and William Burch. The winner will win a song recording, a television appearance on the Word Network’s “Bobby Jones Gospel” show, and the opportunity to perform onstage with one of the 2011 Bermuda Gospel Festival performers!
