Weekly Mini-Devotional / Don't give up
God wants you to keep knocking
FRIDAY, NOV. 23: Here are two of the most popular verses in the Bible found in Matthew 7:7-8: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Let’s look at the progression of this command:
# 1 Ask
We need to ask God to get what only He can give. He gives us all we need to live for Him in order to do what He has called us to do. So when we don’t have… we ask.
# 2 Seek
However, we need to ensure the resources that we asked for are used to accomplish His will. His will can be found as we seek it. So when we have but don’t know what to do with it… we seek.
# 3 Knock
When we find out His will there are times when we are presented with a closed door. God has equipped us and has revealed what He wants us to do, but don’t think that it will be easy-going just because you discovered His will.
We have a real enemy that wants to do all he can to put a stop to what only God can do.
So don’t be so quick to walk away from a closed door, may be God just wants you to knock.
So when we have what we need from God and know what He has called us to do, but as we step out in faith we have a closed door… we knock.
This is the way God wants us to live our lives because these verses are in the present progressive tense… so keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking as you seek to please him this week.
