God leaves the door open when you divorce yourself from Him
A divorce occurs where a covenant had been previously established.
A divorce occurs where two had become one flesh.
A divorce occurs when in the absence of each other, the husband and wife begin to receive instructions that are set out to bring about contention and division.
A divorce occurs when the trust and dependency of the husband or wife is questioned.
Divorce happens today because it already happened in the beginning of history.
Genesis 3:23: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Since Adam was made in the image of the Triune Godhead, and since Adam lived because of the breath of God within him, there was an intimate kinship or relationship between Adam and God.
Now when God took a bone from Adam and made Eve, that meant that Eve was an integral and intimate part of Adam.
Hence, both Adam and Eve were in a union with God. That is, they communed daily with God in a place called paradise. That was the first covenant relationship involving mankind.
Ever since Lucifer, Satan, the devil was divorced from the presence of God, he has sought to convince and coax mankind out of the presence of God.
Satan loves it when mankind could not care less about God, church people, and the Bible!
Why? It is because those three entities will help to foster an intimate relationship with God once again.
Satan cannot afford for mankind to knit with the Heavenly Father and experience a bit of Heaven here on earth.
Satan does not want you in covenant relationship with God.
What will cause a divorce? I believe that disobeying God’s rule will cause a divorce.
I personally do not believe that you can have two persons in a marriage, both of them equally and fully committed to God, and find that they are on their way to divorce.
No! Someone is already hiding something. Someone is already on the “down-low” and trying to hide the truth of the matter from God (as if He does not already know).
There are rarely joyous divorces, for how can the ripping apart or severing of one flesh so that it becomes two flesh once again, be without severe pain?
How can promises made in the sight of God now be of no good?
The “for better” has become “for worse” and now the vows are being made redundant. The love has taken a left turn and the two hearts no longer beat as one. The “until death does part us” has been pre-empted by differences that shall part us.
Divorce brings about the worst in people, for when the covenant of marriage is shattered the hallowed and sanctified place has been shattered.
Not only are the hearts of the husband and wife broken, but also the heart of God is broken.
It is as if God relives Genesis once again, where He had to usher mankind out of His presence.
That is, God had to carry out the consequence of removing His immediate and physical presence from mankind. The communion and wonderful fellowship was broken.
How sad it must be today for God to see mankind reinforce the brokenness of this relationship rather than to seek how to establish the relationship.
I challenge you. Will you seek a relationship with God or will you simply reinforce your divorce from God? Know that with God there is reconciliation. Even if the ink has dried on your divorce papers from God, you still can choose Him again.
God is still waiting for you. God will welcome you back home with His arms wide open; He will pardon you. Why have a divorce settlement when you can renew your vows to God and begin again? Respice finem.
