God has not given up on Bermuda
The world of today is very much scientifically driven as it pertains to all aspects of life. Hence, when it comes to the spiritual area, the scientific and the spiritual are involved in a head-on collision, resulting in many deaths.
As I majored in biology, studied enough science, and was driven by the scientific process for so many years, I consider it a great delight to be able to live and exist beyond the science of it all.
Indeed, the very moment a Christian seeks to find the scientific proof of his belief, he has just become an unbeliever. It is faith that drives the praise and passion of a person to know that beyond the five senses and beyond what makes sense to others he must “walk by faith and not by sight”.
It is by the faith, with which the godly live, that Christians expect God to deliver Bermuda out of her present place of captivity.
The truth is that where Bermuda finds herself did not occur overnight. Nope. It has been a progressive evolution, spurred on by Bermuda’s financial stability and superiority as compared to other nations.
Unfortunately with a readily available supply of finances and a standard of living above the average, to say the least, Bermuda believed it had no need to call on God for support.
Today, we are now experiencing the effects of a people in captivity. There are all forms of captivity, including being captive to possessions and people.
Now possessions and people are not wrong things when they are in their place. However, when possessions and people are out of order and supersede the place of God in your life, soon you will find that all is out of order.
Isaiah 40:1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
Here God spoke to His people. Let me stress that these are the Israelites, His chosen people. Therefore you cannot and must not doubt the love and care God has towards the nation of Israel.
At that time in the scriptures, the Israelites were in captivity because they had chosen to disobey God and join other nations, contrary to the command of God. The bottom-line, is that their captivity was induced by their freedom of choice.
Yet, the benevolence of God was so precious, that even after they had been in Babylonian captivity for nearly 70 years, God sent a message of ‘comfort’.
God recognized that His people were in sorrow, for they could not sing like they used to and they could not worship as they did generations before.
The lesson was well learnt and the people of Israel had turned their hearts to the one and true living God. God was about to bring the war, the fight, and the turmoil of their existence to an end.
Following God’s words of comfort to His people, He let them know that all would be made ready for their triumphant recovery from the place of captivity. God let them know:
1. The desert would become a highway.
2. Valleys would be exalted.
3. Mountains would be lowered.
4. The crooked way was going to be straightened.
5. The rough places would be made smooth.
Following all of the transformations, God told Israel that He would then show up in all of His glory.
I believe that Bermuda is very much a spiritual Israel and that when her people make the choice to get things straight, all will see the glory of the Lord show up.
God has not left the island of Bermuda. God is still speaking and the challenge is, are you willing to listen and then change?
Are you willing to lift up the standard and make the pathway straight once again?
Are you prepared to remove the mountain barriers that impede humanity from reaching out to God and being in His presence?
Bermuda, it is not too late for you to begin again. While you yet have breath in your body, you have the opportunity to transform your life, through the power of a right relationship with God. Respice finem.
