Give God the glory for all favours bestowed upon you

FRIDAY, JULY 20: What happens when a nation forgets God? What is the fallout when you shut God out?

Is there any real damage that results as a result of severing the relationship between God and mankind?

Those questions may be relevant questions for today, but also realize that those questions have model responses, when you look back at yesterday.

God’s Word provides us with the necessary information so that we may choose to avoid the consequences of wrong decisions.

Even though God created time, He created it for us. God is outside of time and therefore time has no effect on Him.

God is the same whether the time is yesterday, today, or forever in time to come.

That is wonderful because it allows God’s Holy Word to be the constant standard upon which we stand.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Psalms 102: 25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Mankind may debate and even legislate change that is in direct contradiction to God’s Holy Word, but that does not change God’s mind.

What God has stated, God means. God will not change when the whims and wills of mankind change.

That is quite reassuring, for it allows the Christian to be able to rest securely in the security of God’s Word.

Back to basics

Indeed, while life will throw wrenches seemingly in the heart intent of God, you must not despair. What you must do is go back to The Holy Word of God and hear what God is speaking.

2 Chronicles 32:24 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.

25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

In the text, Hezekiah had acquired great wealth. In so doing, he made the wrong move of trusting in his heart more than he trusted in God who had given him the great wealth.

Hezekiah switched up! Hezekiah forgot God and did not render back to God.

In other words, Hezekiah did not look at his current blessing and then go back and give God praise for all that He had done.

Hezekiah became lifted up in wealth; he was blindsided by his great abundance of wealth, so that he became blind to the fact that God and only God had showered him with such blessings.

Riches to rags

Have you ever heard of persons who won the lottery, but within a matter of months or years, they were back to their place of poverty?

Have you ever heard of sports athletes who made millions per year, based on a wonderful contract, but by the time they were finished their sports career, they did not have a penny to their name?

Have you ever heard of superstar singers who died in a state of moral poverty and all their finances did them no good?

That is what will happen if you ever forget God who gave you the wealth in the first place.

Your greatest test will be the favour that you have. Your greatest test will be who you become once God has blessed you in abundance.

Do you forget God who gave you the favour, or do you remember God in all things and give Him the glory?

Depending on your reaction to favour and wealth, you will either set up a good future for your children, or you will rob your descendants of a good future.

Choose wisely. Blessings Abound!
