The four recipients are Rachel Antonition, who is taking Landscape Architecture at Kingston University, UK; Ryan Branco, Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucester, UK; Claire Grenfell, Environmental Science at Queens University, Canada; and Lucy Hollis, Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucester, UK.
The club provides scholarships for those seeking financial assistance to pursue study opportunities in horticulture, landscaping, environmental studies, floriculture or any related areas beneficial to Bermuda.
The scholarship also benefits from funding from the Dorothy and Bayfield Clark and Freer Cox Memorial Funds.
The deadline for the next scholarship application is June 30.
Anyone interested in applying can download a form online at www.gardenclubbermuda.org/scholarship.
Applicants are required to submit a completed application form, proof of Bermudian status, academic certificates including details of grades (though this can be waived for mature students) and two reference letters from Bermudian residents who are not related.
They should also send a letter outlining their professional ambitions, indicating any awards received to date and a copy of provisional or final acceptance to college or course of study. Applicants are also asked to give an undertaking that they will return to Bermuda to exercise their craft.
There will be a special fundraising event on May 14 at Palm Grove Estate at 38 South Road, Devonshire. There will be fun for all the family from 10am to 4pm. Proceeds go towards the scholarship fund and horticultural and environmental causes.
The Bermuda Sun will run a separate story on this event closer to the time.
