Yesterday the PGA confirmed that Furyk will not be available for the Monday Pro-Am and Skills clinic because he will be en route travelling to Bermuda from a previous commitment in South Korea on the Sunday.
Furyk will be available for the tournament portion of the event on October 16-17 at the Mid Ocean Club.
He'll play against Masters' winner Zach Johnson. U.S. Open champ Angel Cabrera and British Open champ Padraig Harrington.
Furyk is the tournament favourite as the number 3 ranked golfer in the world.
While some fans are no longer interested in the event, many still plan on going and enjoying the golf by the foursome.
One employee from the Reinsurance company said: "I got about 10 e-mails from my boss asking 'Can you get tickets? Can you get tickets? Can you get tickets?'"
On Wednesday, the employee sent the overseas boss an e-mail with the headline that Tiger wasn't coming and asked him "Do you still have any interest?"
The reply: "I don't want to see the other [guys]."
Louis Garipey, an employee for the ACE Group, has tickets for the Grand Slam.
He said he wasn't surprised Tiger backed out.
"I will still go but I'm disappointed he won't be there I was looking forward to it! I was planning to only go to the Monday skills event."
Jacques Bonneau also has tickets and still plans on attending the event.
"I was disappointed that Tiger was not going to be there because I was looking forward to seeing him play in person and also to see how he did playing on Mid Ocean.
"Clearly his presence in Bermuda would have created a big stir and would have energized the whole of Bermuda, because everyone knows Tiger.
Bonneau added: "I still plan on going because I want to support the event and I am keen on seeing the world's best golfers play Mid Ocean. It will not have the same level of excitement but it will still be fun and interesting."
Tuff Dogs Sports Club president Manny Faria said: "I didn't buy any tickets because I knew he was not coming. I was actually stunned earlier this week to hear that he was coming."
Woods indicated that he was pulling out of the event because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Woods said: "I am sorry that I will not be able to spend some time with my friends at The PGA of America and experience the beauty of Bermuda this year at the Grand Slam of Golf.
"It's been a long year. And, given some new, personal obligations, it is very important that I take some extended time off and spend it with my family."
Making the rounds via blogs, E-mails and HOTT 107.5 yesterday was that the real reason that Woods wasn't playing in Bermuda was that he was denied entry to a private golf club in Bermuda when he was a youth. A spokesperson at IMG, Woods' agent said: "We have no comment on that."[[In-content Ad]]
