The competition was a huge success and a great way to start the season. We saw a lot of boundaries hit and a lot of money raised for charity.
We had a big crowd at St. David's - the home of cricket - and I've had nothing but positive feedback.
I'm planning to make this an annual tournament to start the season off. I have to thank my sponsors - Tigermart, Real Deal, John Barritt, Hamilton Princess and the Black Horse tavern. They helped me a lot and without them it wouldn't have been such a success.
Flatts All-star team beat Cleveland on a bowl off to win the final. It got to 8pm and we decided that was the best way to decide it.
It wasn't officially a Flatts team and guys like Herbie Bascome, Troy Hall and James Celestine turned out for them.
I played for St. David's Gold team with some of our under-17s, including my son Diego, who is promising to be a good little player.
Hopefully he's going to be better than me. He loves the game and he took a couple of great catches on Saturday to win the Fielder of the Tournament Award.
He's a good little all-rounder and if he sticks at it, he'll be very good.
We've got a lot of talent in the Under-17s and we're looking forward to blooding them for the seniors this season. Mark Crawford, our young left arm seamer, picked up a few wickets and Josonne Smith, a tall left handed batsman, got a few runs too.
We've always had good youth programmes at St. David's and hopefully we'll see some of them emerge this year. Our senior team also reached the semi-final in this tournament and we're warming up nicely with the 20-20 starting next week.
It was good to see Oronde Bascome back out for St. George's and Rodney Trott looking sharp for Bailey's Bay.
Saturday was really my first practice session of the season and it was nice to get a couple of good knocks myself. I'm looking forward to the season starting on Saturday.[[In-content Ad]]
