WEDNESDAY, NOV. 21: The cable ship Responder made an unexpected call into Bermuda earlier this week so that a crewmember could fly home.
The whitewashed vessel, which has been working off our coast, came into Five Fathom Hole off St David’s at first light on Monday to ‘rendezvous’ with the pilot boat.
The Filipino sailor was then transferred across to the pilot boat and brought into St George’s, from where he was expected to fly home.
Elsewhere at sea it’s expected to be a fairly quiet week in the shipping world.
The Somers Isles and the Bermuda Islander are both due into Hamilton tomorrow morning. Bad weather out in the Atlantic has put the Somers Isles’ arrival slightly behind schedule.
While the Oleander will be back again in Hamilton next Monday.
