MONDAY, AUGUST 1: The Fairmont Southampton’s beautiful, award winning golf course will play host to the HSBC National Junior Par 3 Championship on August 6 – 7, 2011.  This event is one of the key features of what the Bermuda Junior Golf Association (BJGA) has proclaimed as “The Week of Junior Golf,” which along with the HSBC National Junior Par 3 Championship includes the 6th Annual Ross “Blackie” Talbot Junior International Classic.

Philip Butterfield, CEO, HSBC Bermuda, stated: "HSBC is pleased to partner with the Bermuda Golf Association in support of the HSBC Junior Golf Par 3 tournament. The sport of golf brings our diverse community together for healthy competition and camaraderie.

“In the positive spirit of the game, our young people are provided with the opportunity to build character and new friendships, learning about the intricacies of the game while learning about the intricacies of each other."

Fairmont Southampton director of Golf Anthony Mocklow said: “Fairmont Southampton is pleased to host the HSBC National Junior Par 3 Championship.  We are committed to reenergizing golf in Bermuda by focusing on providing our young people with the resources, training and life skills to succeed, not just in the game of golf but also in the game of life.

“Our partnership with the BJGA and HSBC is based on our shared dedication to Bermuda’s youth and we anticipate that the inaugural Week of Junior Golf will be a tremendous success.”

This is the first Junior Par 3 Championship ever to be held in Bermuda and is expected to attract many of the island’s junior golfers. The HSBC National Junior Par 3 Championship is a 36 hole weekend event open to Jr golfers of all ages and abilities.

Entry forms are available through the Bermuda Junior Golf Association and through all golf courses on the island including Fairmont Southampton.
