THURSDAY, MARCH 29: Fairmont Hotels today announced it is now offering healthy food at its restaurants for kids.
New menu items include whole-wheat spaghetti and meatballs, grilled cheese on whole-wheat bread, chicken strips and more.
The new dishes are said to be creative and nutritious.
A press statement said: “With a nod to the brand’s Lifestyle Cuisine that addresses common dietary requests such as low-fat, vegetarian and low-carbohydrate, these new children’s menu options offer a healthy twist on the usual kid-friendly favorites such as chicken strips, pizza, spaghetti with meatballs and even chocolate mousse.”
The new kids menu is in line with the basic principles of the lifestyle cuisine menu.
Christopher Chafe, executive chef for Fairmont Southampton, said: “As the world has become more health-conscious, it is not uncommon for restaurants to offer healthy dining options, but not always for kids.
“We know our guests are more concerned with healthy eating choices than ever before and we want to make sure we provide them with a nutritional dining selection for the entire family.”
Thomas Frost, executive chef at Fairmont Hamilton Princess added: “The key to the new menu options we’ve created for kids is that we’ve adapted their favorite dishes to a healthier format.
“We have to make food that kids actually want to eat.”
The new menu is across Fairmont restaurants and includes whole wheat spaghetti with house-made meatballs and tomato sauce at Bacci, grilled cheese sandwich on whole-wheat bread at Waterlot Inn, chicken fingers at Jasmine Lounge, grilled chicken on a whole-wheat bun at Harley’s, twin mini beef burgers and panko breaded fish of the day at Heritage Court.
Healthy desserts include strawberries and Greek yogurt with honey at Jasmine Lounge.
These new nutritious selections for kids are available at all Fairmont hotels globally.
