Exclusive deals and live DJ entice shoppers to buy local

But this year, bermuda.com has launched its “12 Days of Christmas” promotion, which will see shoppers receive discounts, prizes and many incentives if they shop at certain stores on certain days.

The participating are retailers Brown & Co., P-Tech, Annex Toys, Gibbons Company, Hunt’s Food & Supply, Lusso, Boutique CC and 27th Century Boutique.

The launch began today in Brown & Co complete with 20 percent off and a DJ to liven up the mood.

Senator Kim Wilson, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, launched the event and said: “This innovative promotion will inject even more excitement than usual into the Christmas Shopping Season, turning the shopping experience into holiday entertainment at select venues around the island. 

“Shoppers will find exclusive deals and live disc jockeys on retail floors.

“Eight local retail outlets are part of the 12 Days of Christmas and each outlet has a specific shopping day in the lead up to Christmas.”

She continued: “I’m pleased to participate in the launch of this promotion as it complements the Shop Local campaign recently launched by the Chamber of Commerce and the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation.

“Both programmes are designed to build awareness of the local retail offering. 

“Perhaps the best gift we can give to our friends and family this year is a contribution to the health of the Bermuda economy.  Every dollar spent in Bermuda this holiday season will help to sustain jobs.”

bermuda.com general manager Glenn Jones said: “We are leaving no stone unturned to turnout shoppers.

“We think one of the most important things we can do is take the boring out of shopping. 

“That’s why we’ll have a live DJ in each of the stores, we’ll be live on the radio and we’ll post exclusive shopping deals on social media, giving shoppers only minutes to act.  It’s going to be very exciting.”
