FRIDAY, DEC. 23:

Luke 2:28-32 KJV:
Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

The time we live in today is not much different from the time when our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ was born.

No, I am not referring to the age of information technology.

The days of Herod were days of trouble.

People were concerned with the state of the world at that time.

Yes, then there was a concern as to how the government and the people were or were not interacting.

Indeed, persons of that day wondered whether the ‘powers that be’ were for or against the people.

Simply put, it was a time of darkness and people were looking for a light; people were looking for someone to rescue them from the hands of the oppressor.

Consolation

The text speaks about a man named Simeon who was old, and could possibly even experience death at any moment.

Yet, Simeon received a Word from The Holy Spirit, which told him that he would not see death until he had seen the consolation of Israel.

There is something powerful about holding onto The Word of God, despite all.

What a thought; to know that death could not embrace Simeon until he had embraced the Saviour of the world.

That should encourage you to know that when God speaks a Word into your life, no matter what is going on, you shall see that spoken Word of God come to pass in your life.

Simeon was a picture of the condition of the world at that time.

He was old and therefore his eyes were dim, which means that there was less light entering into the pupils of his eyes; there was less light in his life.

That was also the condition of the world.

Yet, and despite all of that, Simeon was yet living to see the consolation or the comfort of Israel.

What a wonderful thought; that in your moment of less light, or in your moment of dimness, you are waiting for God to send the light.

What a hope for Bermuda.

In the very midst of some of the darkest moments, you can follow the example of Simeon and wait for the consolation of Bermuda.

Oh, yes. In the very midst of darkness, and even evil, you can know that The Light is about to shine forth.

Simeon was led to go to the House of God on that day and he experienced the promise.

That is when Simeon embraced The Light of the world.

As many times as Simeon had been to God’s House, and as many babies as Simeon had blessed, that day was different.

This lets me know that you may go to church on many occasions and still not experience what God has for you.

On that day, Simeon embraced light, he embraced hope, and he embraced the consolation of Israel.

Simeon embraced The Comforter, in the form of the baby Jesus.

Simeon had lived long enough to know when an experience was different, and on that day he felt and he prayed differently.

When Simeon embraced The Prince of Peace, he was able to depart the world in peace and therefore be able to truly rest in peace.

It is only as you embrace the Saviour of the world that you will be able to live in peace, die in peace, and your soul will rest in peace.

Bermuda, find The Prince of Peace today; Bermuda live in peace today and always.

Embrace the Light of the world.

Allow this Light to lighten your days.

The Prince of Peace can be born afresh into your life today.
