FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2: There have been many times I have placed God’s will in the future and missed out on enjoying what God has for me today.
I would always feel that someday I would be doing exactly what God wants me to do.
However, we must remember that God’s will is not a future destination; rather it should be a present journey.
Many Christians live with such talk of how they are going to “really” live for God when they get older or do exploits for him when they have the resources they need.
When we place God’s will in the future we lack the faith to carry out heaven’s agenda on earth today.
The danger of limited faith is that we can paralyze God for what He wants to do in our lives right now. Don’t qualify for the same appraisal that Jesus gave to his own hometown Nazareth...
“He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith” (Mark 6:5-6).
God wants to do great things today but our perspective of His will being done on earth needs to shift from the future to the present.
This week pray to God that you will walk in obedience to His will today — don’t be deceived to think you will “get it together” one day.
Now is the season to fulfil the will of God for your personal life, your family, your church and your community.
In His Word he has laid out what His will is… from producing more fruit for God, to praying continually and giving thanks to God.
“Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:17-18).
Don’t put off for tomorrow what God wants you to do today. God’s will is not a destination you will reach someday, it is obedience and trusting in Jesus in your everyday experience.
