Disappointing loss to St. Lucia, but this tour is what we needed
We lost a couple of early wickets through their pacers we were still in position at 98 for two as Stephen (Outerbridge) and I put on a good partnership.
After the lunch break they came back stronger.
David Hemp and I put on a good partnership, but then I got out LBW at 69 and that put us back.
We really needed the tailenders to come through. We just collapsed in the last 10 overs.
Jacobi
Jacobi (Robinson) got four wickets and he was bowling well. There was a little cross breeze and he bowled a perfect line with little out swingers. He had a very good spell, which could have been even better if there weren't dropped catches.
Some of our big name players are struggling a bit, but I'm backing them to get back to form.
What we need
We won back-to-back games in Trinidad and the weather's much better. This is what we really, really need ahead of the ICC World Cup qualifiers. Guys just have to do the proper things and step up mentally. That's one area we still have to work on.
We had a game in Trinidad where we lost of couple of wickets, but we struggled on to win. Games like that we used to lose so it was nice to see us pick it up.
Today, we lost, but we can't win it all, but we know that we can win these type of games.
Being the captain
One of the greatest thrills of my life was getting to captain the guys for the second Trinidad match. Coach believed in me and told me I could play it my way.
It's the greast honour a sportsman can have - to lead their country. It's something that I've always wanted to and aspired to do. I've made no secret about that.
It was a bit overwhelming at times, but I was happy to perform as well as I did and lead from the front. I had 37 runs which was more than anyone from either team.
I was very aggressive and more attacking than other captains. I wanted to test my ideas out on the field and the team was totally behind me.[[In-content Ad]]
