Countdown to Namibia
Did we pick the best team to beat Kenya?
Vivian ‘Bootsie’ Simons
(Willow Cuts) -
I am glad to see they have looked at different players, they've made the pool bigger and this will put pressure on the players already in the side to perform.
Now people realize that their spot is not guaranteed.
I just hope people like Glenn Blakeney decide to get involved.
I talked to Glenn and he said he is interested and he is going to put in the effort to get into the team, now it is up to him. He said it, now let’s hope he goes ahead and does it.
Peter Philpott
(Cleveland County)
The only concern I have is the early order batting, I am still not sure about that.
I am glad to see Hasan in the side because we need two spinners working together.
I think that spin bowling is one of our strengths and Hasan will complement Sluggo.
I’m satisfied with the fast bowling — Hurdle, Mukuddem, Steede and Tucker.
In fact I think Tucker as a left-arm bowler gives us variety.
I believe he will do well if he is prepared to listen to instructions.
Obviously he has shown commitment because he trained consistently with the team even though he was not part of the original training squad.
Cleon 'Scotty' Scotland
(Western Stars)
I like the look of the team.
But more importantly what I appreciate is that nowadays there is general acceptance that whatever team we select those chosen must have shown commitment.
In the past there was a feeling that many selected to represent Bermuda were not really dedicated.
Now we can be confident that players selected have committed themselves.
Mark Trott
(Bailey's Bay)
They had to sort out the opening bats and I think they picked the best that were available.
I’ve always believed that Kwame plays better when he opens the batting and he excels under pressure.
I guess the surprise selection was Kevin Tucker but I believe he adds variety to the attack.
I’ve seen him play for PHC and he has the talent to be successful.[[In-content Ad]]
