FRIDAY, JUNE 3: Fairmont Southampton Golf Course has been ranked among the world’s top five par three layouts by Golf Magazine.
The stunning 2,684-yard, par 54 South Shore venue came in for rave reviews in this month’s edition of the leading magazine which ranked it higher than Massachusetts’ Blue Rock Golf Course.
Anthony Mocklow, Fairmont director’s golf director, said: “I am over the moon and I’m sure I speak on behalf of all the golf staff here whose continuous and exceptional work has yielded this fantastic acknowledgement.”
“This is a tremendous accolade and everyone at Fairmont are thrilled that we have managed to get this kind of attention.”
Mocklow said much work has gone towards enhancing the Southampton golf course in recent years.
“In late 2009 we began rebuilding tees and restructuring the roughs and made the surrounding trees and off-playing areas look prettier. We also just invested heavily in a brand new golf shop.
“The whole facility itself has had a tremendous facelift and people are really seeing Fairmont’s golf course for what it is - challenging but very fun.
“It’s a fun golf course to play and by the sheer nature of the increase in recognition of the golf course we are clearly achieving that.”
For the past two-years Fairmont has hosted the Bacardi National Par Three Championships.
Ranked number one among the world’s top ten par three golf courses by Golf Magazine was Treetops Resort located in Gaylord, Michigan.
