The Bermuda Junior Service League is helping Bermuda’s deaf this month by launching Coins for a Cause 2010.
The League is encouraging members of the public to support the cause by dropping their spare change into a ‘Coins for a Cause’ bucket at retail stores and businesses island-wide from September 8 to 24.
Coins for a Cause, supported by the much-loved Johnny Barnes, is a fundraising activity organized by the League to raise much-needed funds for local charities.
Past recipients have included Habitat for Humanity and the Sexual Assault Response Team Room at KEMH.
This year’s proceeds are going to Bermuda Islands Association of the Deaf.
The aims and objectives of the charity are to improve the lives of the deaf and hard of hearing, to teach deaf adult education, to be consultants to parents of children with hearing loss to gain equality of communications access for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and to help deaf citizens to become more self-sufficient.
Coins for a Cause is asking local businesses to support the community by simply placing the bucket on a counter in their company and encouraging customers and colleagues to donate their change.
The Bermuda Junior Service League (registered charity #106) is a local women’s charity focused on community service and raising money to aid our community’s needs.
