FRIDAY, DEC. 21: In the current economic climate, providing for Christmas is beyond many people’s means, but two organizations aim to lift the financial burden and raise the festive cheer.
Bermuda CableVision and The Hamilton Seventh Day Adventist Church are teaming up to repeat the festive holiday event they produced last December — a delicious Christmas Day lunch for local families and other residents who might not otherwise be able to afford it.
The Christmas lunch will be served from 1pm until 3pm on December 25 at the Hamilton Seventh Day Adventist Church on King Street.
The spacious church hall can accommodate up to 200 families, and the menu is being planned for a full house.
Recognising the continued level of need in the community since last year’s event, CableVision stepped in to sponsor the Christmas luncheon once again, donating funds to purchase the food, while CableVision employees have enthusiastically volunteered to assist the church members in serving the meals.
The luncheon will feature the full traditional Bermuda Christmas menu, with turkey and all the trimmings, as well as savoury vegetarian dishes, and a selection of holiday desserts.
“Everyone should be able to experience the joy of Christmas,” says Terry Roberson, General Manager of Bermuda CableVision,
Delightful gathering
“We look forward to creating a delightful gathering for our special guests on that day with a wonderful meal in a beautiful church hall where everyone will be welcomed with open arms.
“We are proud to be a part of this event, and would like to thank the Hamilton Seventh Day Adventist Church for making it possible.”
Volunteers and interested persons who wish to find out more or reserve a space are invited to phone the church office at 292-4276.
