Bulky waste collection suspended

By Ministry of Public Works Waste Management Section- | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment

THURSDAY, JAN. 27: Free collection of bulky waste by the Waste Management Section of the Ministry of Public Works has been suspended until maintenance on the bulky waste shear at Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility has been completed on February 14, 2011.

Truckers are reminded that bulky commercial waste such as furniture, lumber and pallets will not be accepted at Tynes Bay from January 27 to February 14, 2011.

The public drop-off will continue to accept residential bulky waste during this time; however, residents are encouraged to bring as little as possible to the drop-off.

A Ministry spokesman said today: “We wish to remind the public not to place bulky waste outside for collection until their scheduled pick-up day.  Piles of bulky waste leave our roadsides and neighbourhoods looking untidy and can encourage illegal dumping, rodents and mosquitoes.

“The scheduling of bulky waste collection will resume on 14th February, 2011.”

To schedule a bulky waste collection, please call 292-1517 or 292-7454.
