Bout by bout guide to Saturday's fights

Bout 1

Lucian Marele (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc.) vs Logan Justin (American Top Team) - KICKBOXING

Lucian Marele, originally from Romania has been training with the BSA team for about a year. He is a waiter at the Hog Penny. This is his first kickboxing bout however he has had one boxing bout at the Teacher's rugby Boxing which he won. He has a training background in grappling and full contact karate.

Logan Justin, his opponent is also in his very first kickboxing bout. He fights out of one of the top Mixed Martial Arts gyms in the U.S. - American Top Team. This gym is represented by UFC superstars such as Thiago Alves, Din Thomas, and Jef Monson.

Bout 2

Jashun Thomas (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc.) vs Asa Tenpow (Kung Fu USA) - SAN SHOU

Jashun Thomas is one of Bermuda's top point sparring fighters. His background is in Tae Kwon Do and boxing. He is very athletic and has very good kicking ability. This is his first san shou fight. Asa Tenpow, his opponent is a very young but accomplished fighter and is currently the ISKA San Shou Champion for 2007.

Bout 3

Khalid Pitcher (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc) vs Marcus Husbands (Bermuda Karate Institute) - KICKBOXING

Khalid Pitcher, a banker at HSBC will be fighting in his second full contact bout. After a two year absence from the ring and spending a short stint in Thailand, he has returned with a renewed focus.

Marcus Husbands, training from out of Skipper Ingham's Bermuda Karate Institute will be in his first full contact match. He is under the tutelage of Ray Sillar who is the coach of the Muay Thai class at Bermuda Karate Institute.

Bout 4

Reyel Bowen (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc) vs Osei Xavier (John Wai Kung Fu) - SAN SHOU

Reyel Bowen, a northern shaolin kung fu practitioner for many years will be fighting in his first san shou bout. He works for Department of Statistics..

Bout 5

Sentwali Woolridge (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc vs Lee Yokota (Kung Fu USA) - SAN SHOU

Sentwali Woolridge, one of BSA's most talented and veteran fighters is looking to add more victories to his already impressive record. His background is in juijitsu and karate and has established himself as a very well rounded fighter. He works for Parks Department. Lee Yokota, his opponent is an instructor of kung fu and is currently trying to establish himself as a top fighter in mixed martial arts in the U.S .in addition to coaching champion fighters.

Bout 6

Garon Wilkinson (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc) vs Dorjhan Gibbs (John Wai Kung Fu) - SAN SHOU

Garon Wilkinson, President of Bermuda Sanshou Association has a background in traditional kungfu, gyaku shin kai karate and capoeira. He is a veteran of the martial arts who has been competing for many years. He works in reinsurance at ACE Tempest Life Re.

Dorjhan Gibbs of John Wai Kung Fu has a very impressive san shou record and is one of John Wai's top fighters amongst a heap of good fighters.

Bout 7

Leroy Maxwell (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc) vs Joe Pineda (John Wai Kung Fu) - SAN SHOU

Leroy Maxwell, an EMT for the fire service has established himself as one of BSA's top fighters with some impressive wins. He has competed in boxing as well as trained in karate and capoeira.

Joe Pineda has a solid san shou record and is also one of John Wai's top fighters from the Fort Lauderdale based academy.

Bout 8

Jermal Woolridge (Bermuda Sanshou Assoc) vs Adriano Knebl ( American Top Team) - KICKBOXING

Jermal Woolridge, who went undefeated until last year's World Championships, definitely has to be considered as one of Bermuda's top fighters. This Bermuda Gas warehouse worker and bouncer has a background in Tae Kwon Do and shows extreme athletic ability despite his giant stature.

His opponent Adriano Knebl is also from the infamous American Top Team. This bout is under kickboxing rules so the approach will be slightly different from the san shou matches that Jermal has been known to dominate.
