Bermuda Day ferry service

MONDAY, MAY 21: The Department of Marine and Ports has issued the following advisory concerning ferry service during the Bermuda Day Holiday on Thursday, May 24, 2012:

 

Blue Route

Operating the weekday schedule between Hamilton and Dockyard as of 8:30am from Hamilton, last departure at 8:30pm

Service for marathon participants: Ferry will transport marathon participants departing at 7:30am from Hamilton to Watford Bridge. There are no other services to or from Watford Bridge and Cavello Bay

Orange Route

Operating the weekday schedule between Hamilton, Dockyard & St. George’s as of 9:10am from Hamilton, last departure at 5pm  

Pink Route

Operating the Public Holiday Schedule between Hamilton, Paget & Warwick as of 10am from Hamilton, last departure at 6pm

Green Route

No ferry services to Rockaway

[[In-content Ad]]Visiting ships are: Norwegian Star and Celebrity Summit in Dockyard, Veendam in Hamilton.

 

Banks and offices will be closed.

Public buses will run on Sunday and holiday schedule.

Ferry routes from Dockyard to Hamilton and Dockyard to St. George’s will run on regular week day schedule.

 

DOCKYARD

All retail, attractions and restaurants will be open in Dockyard.

 

ST. GEORGE’S

Most retail, attractions and restaurants will be open in St. George’s.

Bermuda Fitted Dinghy Races will take place in St. George’s Harbour at 10.30 am, 1.30 pm and 3 pm.

The reenactment of the public punishment using the ducking stool will take place in King’s Square at 12 noon.

The Olde Towne Train Trolley Tour will operate.

Fort St. Catherine will be open.

Tobacco Bay Beach House will be open.

 

HAMILTON

Hamilton is the finish line for a bike and running race in the morning and the Bermuda Day Parade takes place from 1.30 pm until approximately 5 pm. Many streets in the city will be closed to traffic and the sidewalks will be crowded. The parade will make its way from north Hamilton on to Front Street and Queen Street, ending at City Hall.

Most retailers and department stores will be closed.

Shops open – Flying Colours 9.3-1, Hodge Podge 9-5, Phoenix Drugstore 12-6

Restaurants open – Dangelini’s Café, Juice n’ Beans Café, Pickled Onion, Hog Penny Pub, Flanagan’s Pub.

Note – buses in and out of the City of Hamilton Bus Terminal will have to re-route to avoid the Parade, so some disruptions should be expected.

 

The following attractions will be open:

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo, Flatts

Bermuda National Museum, Dockyard

Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, Hamilton

 

Visitor Information Centres in Hamilton, St. George’s and Dockyard will open.
