Reuben Bean picked up three gold medals at the Arnold Sports Festival last weekend.

Hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival was held in Columbus, Ohio and saw over 18,000 athletes compete in 44 different sporting categories.

Bean competed in the Arnold Martial Arts Festival in the Traditional Karate, Traditional Kobujutsu (weapons) and Traditional Kung Fu divisions.

After arriving to the tournament Convention Centre at 8am, Bean patiently endured over nine hours of waiting to grace the tatami (mat) and display his skills.

His patience and focused determination were not in vain as he dominated three highly competitive divisions.

Bean said beforehand he was prepared for the event and that he intended to medal in his divisions.

After enduring stiff competition from respected international competitors he finished the tournament securing a gold medal in traditional karate kata (pre-arranged forms), traditional weapons and Wing Chun form.

"I'm very pleased with my performance this weekend," said Bean. "I was well prepared for this tournament physically and technically and it was a good measuring stick for evaluating where I currently stand internationally.

"My intention is to further compete in a number of additional quality WKF events in preparation for the WKF 20th World Senior Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, October 28-31, 2010.

"I now know exactly what I must add to my training regime to maintain and enhance my level of execution on the world stage."
