Be the first to know the latest BGA information
It will also bring you your revised handicap index each month. The monthly newsletter from the BGA is certainly worth receiving so, if you are not getting it on the first of each month, then you really are missing out.
On a similar note, the BGA website has been shined up and is really looking very tidy indeed. It is worth visiting on a regular basis as it will give you a wide variety of information. Mark the BGA website as one of your favourites and keep up with all that is happening, and going to happen.
The Bermuda Professional Golf Association recently held its annual championship at Tucker's Point Golf Club. Scott Roy, who doubles as the office manager for the Bermuda Golf Association, won by five shots. Scores were a little higher than anyone would have liked, in particular the players themselves, however, the weather was not all that conducive to low scoring.
Perhaps of greater concern was the disappointing turnout, with several local professionals electing not to play. I would have thought that all local golf professionals would have entered their premier event, however, not so. Regrettably, it seems apathy in playing competitive golf is not limited to the amateur ranks in Bermuda.
Tiger was out and about in the golf world again, this time at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, and this time he showed us his human side. Tiger had a rough week on the golf course at Quail Hollow. Frankly, in my opinion, a meltdown in his golf game was inevitable. While Tiger brought his personal woes upon himself, that doesn't make dealing with them any easier. He may be the most focused and single-minded golfer ever to play the game, however, what he is going through off the golf course cannot be easy. In playing poorly, Tiger showed us that he is human after all.
Billy Mafair
It was fun to watch Billy Mayfair at Quail Hollow, especially his putting stroke. His little quirky putting stroke shows us that it never matters what something looks like, only the results that are produced. It's a little like the saying, beauty is only skin deep. No matter what the circumstances, we always have to peel the onion to see what lies beneath the surface. In Billy Mayfair's case, beneath the surface lies a determination that comes from having had to look life straight in its face and deal with some difficult cards.
It was also fun to watch Rory McIlroy break out of the pack at Quail Hollow, shooting 66-62 on the weekend, to win by 4. Rory has a bright future in front of him and I look forward to seeing him on the European Ryder Cup team later this year in Wales.[[In-content Ad]]
