There is a set criterion for what you offer to God. An “any old you” will not do.
No, you must strive to be found acceptable to God.
You must be willing to give up something in order to place God first in your life.
We live in a world where so many are consumed with trying to please people.
That will only frustrate you because the requirements to please someone will change as time goes on. On the other hand, God’s requirement remains the very same.
John 4:24 KJV
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
You must do your best. God knows you and He knows what you are capable of.
God is omniscient and He will not accept that less than your best is good enough.
Facebook! Facebook has nothing on God, because God knows everything about every face there is. Job knew it.
Job 37:16 (Word English Bible): Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge.
Psalm 147:5 (Word English Bible): Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
1 John 3:19-20 (Word English Bible): By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
The bottom line is that God knows when you are doing your best or when you are simply giving Him what is left over after you have taken care of your own wants and desires and the wants and desires of others.
(Mat 6:33 KJV): But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
The level of your service and your worship to God must be the best that it can be at all times.
In the Kingdom you are expected to have a standard above that of the world and be a true representative of God.
God requires honesty before His presence. God requires that those who enter into His presence are clean and holy.
The question is, “What will you offer to God?”
Moses was challenged to offer his son to God on Mount Moriah.
During times of sacrifice the people were to offer up lambs, goats, doves, bulls, turtledoves, and rams, and they had to do so in a certain way.
When Hannah had her son, Samuel, she offered him up in the temple to the service of the Lord.
When you read the Psalms of King David, sacrifices take a turn in type, as he spoke about sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, and Daniel demonstrated before us the sacrifice of prayers.
Of course the ultimate sacrifice was that of Jesus Christ, as He sacrificed His own life for the forgiveness of our sins.
You must be careful what you sacrifice or what you offer up to God. God does not deal peaceably with false worshippers. Respice finem.
