Bda pros could sweep golf events
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3: The start of the 2011 Jack Daniels Golf Tour begins on February 14 at Tuckers Point.
The winter break has been long enough for most of the professionals — longer for some — and they seem to be itching to go.
This year the Bermuda Professional Golf Association and Jack Daniels Golf Tour are also giving back, with every entry into our regular season events $3 per player will go towards PALS cancer care with our aim set towards $1,000.
The more we play the more we help others.
I am going to go out on a limb here — a strong one — and say I believe the Bermuda Open, Goslings Invitational, and the Fairmont Par 3 Championship will all be won by a Bermuda Professional Golf member this year.
Some may think this is a bit of a lofty goal but having seen some of the talent that we had in our association last year it can easily be accomplished.
We are also looking for our younger players to break out of Bermuda and make some headway into bigger tours in the U.S, Canada and South America.
Last year we had a few top 15 finishers in the Goslings Invitational and a young Bermudian, Terrance Daniels, had a few professionals shaking their heads as he was one putt away from securing the silverware to Bermuda soil.
