Musicians, singers and poets have the chance to perform in Toronto as part of a three-date tour being organized by The Chewstick Foundation.

There are six performance spots available in April and auditions take place on February 27 at Chewstick’s new Neo Griot Lounge & Café on the corner of Court and Elliott Streets.

Anyone interested in auditioning for the ‘Chewronto’ tour should email [email protected] with their name, contact details  and the genre of their music. Artists will be asked to perform two pieces on the day, each no longer than five minutes.

They can perform to a CD, with their own instruments or a capella.

Artists and industry experts will pick the final six. They will be judged on performance, presence and professionalism.

Najib Chentouf, Chewstick co-founder, said: “The Chewronto tour is imperative to give Bermudian artists much-needed exposure, while at the same time providing gateway cities with a bridge for the arts and tourism.”

Artists will be expected to take part in rehearsals and fundraising performances in preparation for the trip.

This is the charity’s second international tour and will take place from April 20-24.

Chewstick’s first international tour was to New York last May when, accompanied by the Bermuda Sun, they played Harlem, Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Chewstick will also take to the big stage for the first time at the Ruth Seaton James Performing Arts Centre on April 9 in preparation for the tour.
