FRIDAY, NOV. 25: Members of the artistic community were honoured in the Bermuda Arts Council Awards.
The Lifetime Achievement award is presented to those who have created a significant body of original work that is representative of the Bermudian spirit.
Lifetime Achievement awards were presented to Arthur John Motyer (posthumous) for English, drama and creative writing; Barbara Jones for theatre and costumes; Elizabeth Campbell for costrumes; Annette Hallett for theatre; Bruce Hallett for theatre and Ronald Percy Paynter (posthumous) for entertainment. The Patron award is presented to those persons who have been benefactors to the Bermuda Arts Community. The award signifies the appreciation of the Bermudian community.
Laura Gorham was Patron Awardee for visual arts.
The main objective of the council is to develop and improve the knowledge, understanding and practice of the arts, to increase accessibility of the arts and to advise and cooperate with government departments, art groups and societies in Bermuda on matters concerned with the foregoing objectives.
