Are you getting all the golf information you need?
I happen to be someone who does receive monthly e-mail notification of my new handicap index and, quite frankly, I was very impressed with the BGA Newsletter. It was colourful, informative, easy to read, and had just about the right amount of information.
The header was a beautiful picture of Riddell's Bay Golf Course.
It was quite spectacular and showed parts of the golf course and parts of the water surrounding Riddell's Bay.
I can just imagine how such a picture would be greeted by would-be visitors to our island. They'd be chomping at the bit to get over to our lovely island, with thoughts of sugar plums dancing in their head.
Far too often, we forget what a wonderful piece of earth we happen to live on. We should do more and behave better lest we lose it.
After all, images of sugar plums dancing in visitors' heads must be met with sugar plums, otherwise they will not be back.
The BGA Newsletter was very interesting. There was an interview with Robert Vallis about his recent victory in the British Senior Amateur Championship.
It made great reading and you could almost feel the tension of the final few holes at Prestwick.
The Newsletter also contained a report on the results of the recently played August BGA Monthly Medal held at the revamped Port Royal Golf Course.
In addition to reports on recent golfing results, the Newsletter also provided useful information on upcoming events.
It also gave the names and positions of those currently on the BGA Board. Both pieces of information are important, the first so that the BGA members can see what's coming up and the second so that members know to whom they can speak should they have a burning issue.
The BGA Newsletter is a great step forward by the new BGA and I understand that the plan is to have a Newsletter sent out each month with the handicap revision notice.
I gather that not everybody is receiving a monthly -mail notification of their revised handicap index.
It is such a convenient way to be advised of your new handicap index and, indeed, of what that new number now happens to be. If your weekend group of golfing bandits is anything like mine, you will want to know exactly when these revisions take place so that the highway robbery that goes on each weekend might be reduced.
For those of you not receiving monthly email notification of your handicap index, all you need do to receive it this way is to ensure that the handicapping system at your club is updated to contain your email address.
Get in touch with your pro shop and have your club pro help you do this, and you will be glad you did.
While you may not be so thrilled by your new handicap index each month, I know you will be thrilled with the new BGA Newsletter that will now accompany your new index.[[In-content Ad]]
