After an heroic Capital One Cup run, the unfancied League Two side were picked apart by Swansea in the final at Wembley on Sunday in a 5-0 hammering.
Wells was the man sacrificed after 56 minutes following the sending off of keeper Matt Duke but the striker, 22, says that is history and has already focused on the team’s slightly-less glamorous league match against Dagenham & Redbridge at Valley Parade tonight.
Wells said: “There’s plenty of work to be done. We’ve got the words of the manager still in our ears – that it was an unbelievable achievement to have made it this far.
“We have to keep our chin up. We’ve done well for a League Two side and we have to go back to business tonight with our league game.”
The City players still afforded themselves a night of celebration despite the heavy scoreline, something no-one would begrudge them after an incredible cup effort that saw them upset three Premier League teams — Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
The fourth one proved out of reach as the Swans proved too slick but Wells said getting motivated on returning to league duty will not be difficult
And the former Dandy Town player said with the Bantams currently 11th and eight points off seventh spot, getting back to Wembley via the League Two play-offs was also a realistic goal.
He said: “Wembley is out the way. We enjoyed the night. The day after it was automatic that we are setting our sights on coming back to Wembley.
“I don’t think it will hard to pick ourselves up. Having lost the final you just want to go out and put things right and show everyone what a good side we are.
“Obviously we didn’t get to show people that on Sunday so tonight is perfect because in football when you have setbacks you want to correct them as soon as possible. Tonight will be the perfect occasion.”
