Nahki Wells’s mom said her “nerves were shot” on the morning of the biggest game of her son’s career.
Elizabeth Simmons said she was apprehensively “killing time” in London ahead of today’s Capital One Cup final, which is expected to see 22-year-old Bermuda striker Wells line up for Bradford City against Swansea City in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley.
Cup fever has taken over the city, which has been invaded by vociferous Bantams and Swans fans.
Ms Simmons and family took in the sights of England’s capital yesterday but minds were only on one thing – Nahki’s cup showdown (kick-off 12pm Bermuda time).
“I haven’t had much sleep,” said Ms Simmons, who said she spoke to Nahki last night.
“My nerves are totally shot at the moment. Nahki, though, is totally fine!
“We’re just killing time. We don’t want to go to the stadium too early because it’s so cold. But there are a lot of Bradford fans in our hotel so right now we’re just waiting.”
