The Baltimore Blast season comes to end tomorrow with a home game against the Milwaukee Wave. We not only hope to play well as we gain momentum for the playoffs, but to pick up a final win to finish with a 21-5 record.

While we are assured of making the playoffs and have been for a while, we will not know who we are playing to the regular season for other teams finishes up next week.

The playoffs are scheduled to start the week of March 4.

Baltimore can win another championship and this is what we can do to hang another banner in our arena:

1) Consistency:  We want to achieve a level of performance that does not vary greatly in quality over the playoffs.

Consistency will be a key element for us to move through the playoffs with any success.

We cannot afford to play in spurts, our team will need to be able to balance the game out with creating and finishing chances and we must limit our physical and mental unforced errors through the games.

2) Focus: We need to centre our attention on our goal.

In all champions, no matter what sport it maybe, staying focused is a key element.

If we are to win we need to block out all distractions and control our emotions through the playoffs.

It is very easy to be taken off your game as a player with a lack of concentration. It could be from a ref not making a call to a player on the other team giving you a cheap shot.

If we allow these little distractions to take us off our game we will have a difficult journey in the playoffs.

3) Believe: We need to have confidence in the truth and the existence that we are the best team in the league.

We won’t have absolute proof that we are the best until the end of the playoffs.

If we believe we are the best, then we can act purposefully towards that goal.

To complete any task as great as the one we have in front of us calls for our players to believe in themselves and go past any doubt of not having success.

Believing in ourselves calls for a unity of strength from the whole team. We will need to trust each other and prepare for the battle, but if we doubt ourselves we will not be able to be mentally strong enough to compete on the battlefield in the playoffs.

Winning is one thing, winning as a unit that believes and trusts each other will be a great accomplishment.

Until next time!
